Doesn't any one play this gem of a game?

I bought it because several people here, including Sazerac and Ziroc, told me it was great! I don't have enough memory on my system now to run it properly, though, so until I upgrade my pc, I decided not to load it.
But if it helps, I heard a lot of good things about it! |
You'll probably have better luck posting about DD in the CRPG forum.
And yes, DD is a good game. |
Off to buy DD then... I am going poor by purchasing these games!! :( :( :(
|
Yepp I´ve played, as have some of my friends over at the W&W forum (And those two have played it through a bunch of times). It´s a good game, a little too much of a Diablo clone for my liking though, but definitely worth the money.
It has also got very low system requirements. You only need a PII450. It does use a lot of disk space though. |
Considering that this is a good game (IMHO), doesn't seem like many threads about it.....
....Or are ppl just finding this too easy..... |
I am playing it on a Pentium II 333, with 320 megs of ram, and a 12 meg video card.

I have been playing since mid december. One of the great points about this game is, if your like me and cannot devote your full time to a game, you can easily leave the game and come back later and pick up where you left off. This is due to a great inbuilt journal system. All quests are recorded as well as all the conversations you have.
The game itself is fantastic IMHO. I was always a fan of Diablo 1 but wished that the role playing was more indepth. DD is that (for me anyway). Also the game has a mature feel about it. I dont feel that the developers were making a game for 10yr old's here. Also the female survivor is one sexy babe The game is huge and there always seems to be yet another quest that needs doing. From the postings I have seen here I reckon I am about half way through and at a guesstimate it has taken me about 60 hours to get that far. I have had a few problems with solving some quests but by posting (in another forum) I have been able to continue. And when you know the answers it all seems logical. I just dont have a very logical brain :( DD is a great experience and I have been able to completely loose myself in it. The last time that happened was Wiz 8. I love it. Shame it doesnt have its own IW forum. Knip |
I'm looking for a good rpg these days. What about DD? I mean experience and level system, freedom, character creation etc
|
Zolton, I installed this game a week ago and though I needed some help in how certain things were done I can honestly say I have really enjoyed myself. Here are my reasons:
1. The world is huge and is basically non-linear which brings you a significant amount of freedom. 2. Leveling up is done two ways: Completing Quests and Fighting Monsters, et. al. You gain experience points. In a sense it is like Diablo and NOX but more so. As the game progresses, though, it becomes more and more like an RPG. If you are looking for a Baldurs Gate or IWD clone this is not it. Nor is it a Diablo/NOX clone. It probably is best like a combination. 3. As you level up you get five points to place wherever you want in character statistics. Also you will get one skill point to choose various skills. The good thing is that you are not limited to any one class. I am a Warrior but I also am able to cast spells and have some thieving abilities. It is a really cool way to shape your character AND it forces you to be wise in your choices. 4. The side quests are cool and you will need to take every one that comes along if you want to get to higher stats and gain more skills. Try to fight every monster that comes along, too. 5. The graphics are nice, though the PC seems a little wooden to me. I wish it had more fluidity like BG characters in movement, etc. The music, bleh! - but I just turned it down to low. Overall it is a fun game to play. I suggest looking at My posts to DD Veterans and that should give you a greater feel for the game. |
I really liked the musics, I think it suit the game, but that's a matter of opinion.
|
hmm it sounds interesting I'll give it a shot. I'll buy Divine Divinity and Arx Fatalis both. Thanks
|
what I like about DD is that it actually has a romance in the game.

Humm... what romance, and what secret house?
|
you can get the romance in the elf village at the emm.... something wood. go near the village well area and your sweetheart will be standing there.
you can visit the brothel at emm... V..something city. it is situated under the tavern. sorry because i couldn't put the names as english names is so hard to remember. |
He he he...The brothel is in the basement of the general store in Verdistis. The general store is just next to the inn. Oh, if you speak to some of the guests in the inn, you will get extra XPs for revealing the location of the brothel to them. :D

I bought DD today, it's a very enjoying game. It's good to know that your class does not matter it effects only mana and health amount. I'm thinking about a warrior. There's a few things I wonder
1-Classes does not matter, skills does matter, right? I mean is there any difference between a warrior's level 5 fireball and a wizard's level 5 fireball? (damage, recovery rate, area of effect etc) 2-Which skills you suggest for a warrior? I'm a little bit undecided about skills. 3-Which character is more enjoying? 4-What's the part of magic in DD? Is it a "must?" or not necessary. Thanks a lot. |
Skills: there is no difference in class. A L5 fireball is the same for any of the three classes.
Fighters: well, at the start, I took bow. The bow was a good weapon for much of the game. I also took sword. The best weapons tend to be swords, though there are good ones of other weapon types. Repair came in handy. Aside from Fireball, I also had Freeze. I put one point into lockpick (there's a way to get a couple more points, and items to increase the skill, later in the game). Well, I liked both the mage and the fighter. The mage has an easier time of it for much of the game. But they don't need Toys, and I like Neat Things. Fighters get to use weapons and wear armor, and I loved having a frost sword. It's possible to do the game without magic, but I wouldn't want to try it myself. Some of the spells are just too useful.
Nightowl2
|
Like which spells I need? And what's the ideal INT for a fighter? 20-30 will do it?
|
which spell? I only put on freeze.
20 inteeligence should be okay. you can further incerese it by having gold charms. |
My favorite spell: resurrection. I used it for some nice XP exploitation. (Not to mention cool stuff too)
|
i cant find a copy of this game.. the malls are out of it... im not going to deal with online... just have to wait...

Glad you like the game...I think it is a wonderful cross between Diablo2 and my all time favorite CRPG Ultima 7 The Black Gate. ;) scaryogre [ 02-21-2003, 11:59 PM: Message edited by: scaryogre ] |
After a long break, finally went back to finish this game....
Got to say, the ending is a little disappointing. Final boss was too easy. I just blasted him with the blue elemental spell.T Might go back to play a fighter character.... OK, some Questions now. 1) what do "coloured" potions do? 2) there are clues as to being about to join various items together. Area there any items to creat other than potions? 3) Whats with the statue that lands at Zandalors and irhu's feet? 4) I had great difficulty dealing with the woman with the crystal ball. I had to resort to filling the room with cheesy summoned creatures. Anyone has any better ideas? 5) other than the temporal spell (slow enemies down), did anyone find any of the divine skills useless???? Can't rem anymore..... Cheers to all |
The statue is a joke. It's the same one that blasts off at the start when you open the firts dungeon in Aleroth.
Yeah, the second part of the game is a letdown in many ways. And most players consider the divine skills useless. I certainly did. Josephine is the one that gives most players early gray hair ;) A fighter can take her out easily with the special move and invisibility. For some reason, you don't go visible when doing the special move. So if you walk in on her invis, get close, do the sweep (be careful not to target her), and keep it up, she's toast. A frsot weapon is especially good here. Aside from that, I found L5 Hellspikes to be pretty good against her.
Nightowl2
P.S. I don't recall "joining" anything outside of potions. |
1, check the describtion. I think it stated there.
3, seems useless. 4, which class you are? okay, drink shadow potion, then use warrior special. if you weapon can deal freeze damage it even better. 5, to me, all divine sspell is useless. and a bit too late. |
