(its my first itme as an DM on the internet)
Its an cold empty room nothing but an tabel whit a bowl of pink water in. A dark shadow enters the room looks int to the bowl an says whit a whispering vocies "I have been waiting for you it is now time" Miles away: Thro the streets of axe, a litle city on the cost of Irgon two men walk one about 20cm longer than the other one, still the shorter one looks even for his young age that he has been throug much in his life. They walk in to a bar by the name "the crying pheonix". The man by the bar whos name is bernie says whit a happy face: ahh coruno your back agin what can I get you? Coruno looks up and says: nothing thanks im looking for a person you might have seen him,hes young probably some rich guys son who wants some adventure, but he pays good enough. Bernie thinks for a second: no hes not here yet you just sitt down and ill get you a beer he will probably be here any second. |
Elsewhere, in the same town...Mormegil was speaking to a man that had answered a summons for an able-bodied person who knew how to fight, loved adventure, and could guard a man's life. Thus, he met a man by the name of Karthias at his home that day, and was about to pay him in advance for the trip they were to make, then set out to a particular tavern by the name of "The Crying Phoenix", where they were to meet with the captin of a ship, who was to be paid for a voyage across the sea.
"So, Karthias is it? Welcome to my home, though I regret to mention that our time is so short that I cannot even invite you in for tea. We have the captin of the vessle we are to travel upon on this adventure waiting across town for us right now, and we must hurry or be left behind. Here is the amount of gold you have asked for, and in the bag...you will find another gift that I included from my grandfather's estate. I hope you will like it. Have ye any questions before we are on our way to The Crying Phoenix?" OOC>>>With the permission of the DM...I have paid Karthias 50,000 gold and have given him a ring of fire resistance equal to the one I own. It seems only fitting that he would do so for his hired bodyguard. oh..."OOC" on these forums means Out of Character...just in case you were wondering. ;) |
ooc>>Sorry I didnt post before, ran outa time
I have nae questions Mormegil sir, let us be on our way for I fear there is no use us standing about when we could be to the job, there is this one thing though, can I take some of the loot we may find on this adventure? Id also like to say thank you for the money up front, Il be expecting the other half if you get back all well and good, and since you added in the extra I am willing to cut the other half down to a quarter providing I get to keep this ring forever. Anyway, enough of my ramblings, to the crying pheonix it is! ooc>> My character has low int remember, he doesnt know whether he is allowed the ring for keeps or not. ooc>> Is that all right about the other gold, thought Id add it. [ 12-15-2003, 12:26 PM: Message edited by: RoSs_bg2_rox ] |
"Aye sir...you can keep the ring, it is a gift...and I will pay you the full second-half as I promised after I have returned home safely. In fact...if you ensure my safe return...I will let you choose one maic item from my horde aside from the payment. I have only one goal on this trip, and it is to kill a red dragon as my grand-dad did long ago. Any treasure found will be split up into equal parts among all that are with us, if there be more than the two of us.
Now...let us haste away." The two men climb up into the coach of Mormegil's private horse-drawn carriage and they are taken to the tavern. The trip takes fifteen minutes. "Here we are. And now we just have to find this captin that will be taking us aboard. I know nothing about this gentleman, so be on your guard. He may try to scoundrel us." The two men climb down from the carriage and enter the building, looking for the man they were to meet here. |
Skye continued to play upon her elvish harp and sing, occasionally receiving a coin or two from the patrons of The Crying Pheonix, while she watched the comings and goings of the people.
"I thought you said you wanted to book a spot on a ship," a handsome elf, hidden beneath a silvery-blue cloak, grumbled. "And that's exactly what I'm doing, I heard there's some people with decent ships who meet in this tavern. And this way I can earn some extra coin at the same time," the half-elf replied, still smiling at the half-listening patrons. Two characters caught her eye, one dressed like a swashbuckler, the other in whaleskin. "Now of those two don't own boats, then I'm an orc," she murmured, directing her companion's attention towards them. "I'll keep an eye on them," he replied, eyeing the richly dressed man and company that just entered the building. |
Coruno ses the men entering Pats the man by his side That has a spear in his hand who then walks against them -but first he dropes a few coins to the elf playing on the stage- your mormegil arent you? your late. captin coruno is sitting right over there, and point over to the table where he is sitting.

In the other part of the city. In captain Coruno ship Esmeralda. A big ugly beast is looking out of an little window below deck. He is looking on the people who walks by.
WHY?? Why dosent anyone out there look like me??Why.He thinks. The beast name is Nadrak and he is an half orc. And why must i stay in this old ship when everyone are in the town?? I could go there and if someone would stare at me I just could smash them. But Coruno has been so nice to me. And if he tells me to stay on the ship I will do that. I hope Coruno are back soon. But why dosent anyone look like me?? |
Dont you touch my man like that, unless you would like this sword in ye, show some courtesy! Now lead us to your man so we can hear his proposal.....
The man leads Karthias and Mormegil over to Coruno.... |
You are late.
*before he keeps talking he first whispers something to the waiter, and brings out an pice of paper* I have the map right here to the island you want, but first there is a certian coin I need? |
Mormegil was already feeling that he had made a wise choice in buying the service of this brute. Offering him more than he had first offered had also strengthened the surety of his service, for every man only cared for one thing. To be as rich as he was. He knew that this man would guard him at least until they had found a dragon, and after the horde was found...if a horde was found...then Mormegil would have to begin worrying. Afterall...what mattereth a few more gold and promise of another trinket if the horde found in the future were large enough to satisfy?
He followed their summoner to the table where the captain was found, looked at the map idly...and then was reminded of the price for the voyage. "Why of course, good sir. I have come prepared to pay for my voyage. Now...about that...I had agreed to pay for the passage of one...but now that I have persuaded another to come onboard with me, do you not think that I might be allowed a discount of 1.5 times the amount paid by me instead of me paying for two seperate people? I am sure you are an honest man and can see my point." OOC>>>DM, I ask for a roll to determine if I succeeded in making the deal. |
Skye smiled at the man who dropped some coins for her and nodded in appreciation. Her ears perked up slightly as she overheard the conversation between the richer man, and his bodyguard, and whom appeared to be the captain of a ship. Locking eyes with her companion, the male elf sighed and then smoothly stood up and approached the company.
"I couldn't help but overhear your conversation, gentlemen," he said genially. "My companion and I are also in current search for passage across the water, with no real destination in mind. Perhaps with the fee of two additional people, there would be no real trouble with this gentleman only paying for 75 percent of his fee," he persuaded. If this plan worked, hopefully he and his companion could win the trust of the company gathered, what with the captain getting more money then he bargained for, and the rich man paying less money then he planned on. Or at least be on their good sides throughout the voyage. The company gathered at the table was not able to clearly see the male elf's features, because his silvery-blue cloak still covered and concealed him effectively. His female companion continued to play upon her elvish harp for the enjoyment of the patrons. [ 12-16-2003, 10:00 PM: Message edited by: Skydracgrrl ] |
He was just going to answer the rich young man when an elf aproched, his companion reached for his weapon but coruno stoped him.
"Iam no bussines man and dont understand all this about percent and other words you speak, but mormegil you do look like an honest man. just pay my dear friend Hima here and he will show you the way to the boat. I have to go to a mage I heard lived on the here abouts. Its good luck to bring an wizard abord an my last on died at my last encounter whit the dragon. And for you *he looks up on the elf*, how can I trust an easdropper? *Before he has time to answer coruno says* Never mind im aldready late as it is. Make a deal whit hima here. *Coruno walks out on the mainroad* He said he was going to met me down by the se, hope he is not mad for me being late. Its that blasted rich mans fault coming here whit his protocenters and times. weel I must hurry. |
Corinthian
Sitting on a large rock out cropping above the small beach below, he glanced out at the sparkling blue water and then further down at the harbor and the shop's going in and out to sea. He could help but feel a bit impatient to set out to on the voyage. The Captain sadi he would be here at this time but according to the sun, he was a bit late"No worries" he said out loud, and then thinking to himself, this is a nice spot and has a great view. the weather couldnt be better what more could I ask for. Faeryn flew above him lazily circling the sky and occasionally calling down to his companion. So Corinthian sat and Faeryn floated on the air current's and they waited..... |
Coruno came runnig down the beach when he saw a man in blue sitting on a rock.
I hope thats him *he thinks for himself* "Corinthian?" |
Corinthian snapped form his daydream wen he heard his name mentioned, and quickly saw the man running in his direction. " Aye, Corinthian I am and I suppose ye are the Captain</font color="silver>" he picked himself up from the walk and hopped down the 7 foot drop to the beach below, sinking his bare feet in the white sands.

I dont need any money to get by I take only what the sea can give. But i do need your services, sowhat do you say? I have to se if my.......delivery made it in time. |
to Mormegil I dont know about these guys, that leader seems a bit pushy, are you sure you want to do this, I dont want you dying out there, afterall, I wont get my other money then!
Anyways, I think we should get going, we dont want to annoy the captain anymore, and we certainly dont want to be left behind! The two men walk out of The Crying Pheonix and head off in the general direction of the harbour. |
"I think I could come along on the voyage, a Dragon you say, now that is a wyrm I would like to see, and if possible bring it's head back to my father's manor. It sounds like a grand journey, which dock are ye at, I will gather my thing's and meet you there ?"

Mormegil was in the process of business when the other person, sounding elfish, walked up and asked the captain for voyage as well. In fact, the elf struck another bargain that was even better than his, and the captain had bailed out, leaving him to just pay! Smiling at the newcomer that had helped save him some coin...Mormegil paid the 75% of his origional offer, then watched as his elven friend paid for the two of them. His bodyguard was tense with worry and agitated at the suspense.
They walked out of the tavern, toward the docks to get a look at this ship. Suddenly, three robbers approached them and demanded to be given money. THis was not the first time that Mormegil had to fend off attackers, as rich people usually tend to draw interest from the ruffians of the town...but this time, he had a "bodyguard" with him. To Karthias, he said, "These people are not with the captain, my good Karthias...they want to rob me of my riches and put your second half of the employment payment at risk. I suggest you prove to me at this time that I have purchased the arm of a capable bodyguard." Mormgegil stands still and crosses his arms, hoping that he did indeed have an able-bodied hired hand. |
After the money transaction was over, the male elf strolled over to Skye with a satisfied smile on his face. She gently placed her harp down, and waited for her companion to speak.
"Well, that went well. Not only do we have passage on a ship..." he paused for her to insert exclamations of joy, "...the other passenger should be somewhat friendly towards us, since I helped him save coin. The captain I'm not so sure of, but I trust you will be able to make him see us in a kinder light," he added dryly, and Skye pouted slightly. "Hey, I can't help it if people get along with me well. Why don't we follow the other passenger? We weren't informed where the boat is, or when it's leaving, and we don't want to get cheated out of my hard-earned coin just because we didn't know what the boat looked like." Nodding in assent, the male elf followed the cheerful half-elf out of the tavern and after the rich man and bodyguard. |
Troubel? Id like to say u are the one in troubel.
he laughs and looks at his friends a says: look he doesnt look like hes even going to fight. *they all start to laugh* "is the litle rich boy to scared?" Guys just get rid of the anoying one and ill take care of the "prince" here. *they start walking closer all whit a shortsword at hand* |
Corinthian
Heading home from the little beach he had to cut through some parts of town, he didnt care to much for some of the town's folk and was just thinking how happy he would be to get out to sea and not have to come back for a while when he heard" Troubel? OOC>>>I am waiting to give my companion a chance to post and do his thing, if that is ok with the DM.
|
ooc>> sorry different time zones, just got home, I tried to get on earlier but the server was down.
Karthias was about to give the loud mouth a good smack when suddenly someone, which he later found out to be Corinthian came up and gave everyone something to laugh at! Karthias proceeded to say to the robbers "You want a go then do you!? Well here you go" and at this point he gave the smart mouth with the shortsword a good hit with the flat of his blade in the stomach which caused the man great pain. "Now you wana continue this or are you gona leave us alone to get on with our business?" " NO please! just get on your way please! Karthias casually walked past the 3 robbers, giving each one a good thump in the face with his big fist and then the pair [Mormegil and Karthias] proceeded on their way to find the ship, closely followed by Corinthian and the elf and co. |
Coruno steps out of an dark alley right next to where the fight was. Ahh I se you arent as useless as I first tought of you. *he walks over to the men and drops a bag on them* the clining sound gives away what it is in it.
But as you already know ruffians ar nothing comperd to dragons and other creaturse you might meet out there on the ocean. While the most of the dry land has been seen and built upon there is still lots of water and island whit have never been seen by man, so I give you "the esmerald" he points up to a big ship made in whit wood whit red sails and in the front a huges painted dragon head. Made by the Mortaniuns, they where the best boat builder this world has ever seen. *he starts to walk aginst the ship when he is about twenty meters from the boat he falls down on one knee and rubbs his eyes like they where in great pain it only holds on for a few seconds and for any one who was paying attecion they wuold have seen that his eyes blinkt green. "sorrry about that´I triped, shall we board?" |
Skye's elven companion coughed a little when Coruno mentioned dragons, but didn't say anything.
After looking at the ship with wonder, Skye turned back towards the captain just in time to see his eyes glint with a green shade. She raised an eyebrow slightly but didn't comment. He's not the only one who's not mentioning something... she thought to herself with a small grin, thinking of her companion. "I may not have much experience in this field, but I know enough to know a good ship when I see one," the male elf said. "Ah, but before we board, let us introduce ourselves. Unfortunately, my companion and I missed the introductions." Skye continued for him. "My name is Skye, bladebard at your service. And my friend is called Lyulfe." he inclined his head slightly in assent. "If you ever need help around the ship, or a song, or just someone to talk to, just ask," she finished with a smile. |
Mormegil
After his guard had taught a lesson to the 3 fools that tried to assault them, Mormegil and Karthias were asked to begin to board the ship. Mormegil was talking to his guard when the captain had a trip...and so missed seeing anything unusual. He was, however apporached by the elves and introduced...and they wanted to get to know who is was as well. He politely obliged. "My name is Mormegil Dragonslayer. My grandfather was famous for his adventures...which earned him the name, and the fortune that I now enjoy. This is my guard, Karthias, who I have hired to see me kept safe along this adventure into the sea. Please...if I may be of any service to you folk, you shall call upon me, for I shall certainly call upon your bardic talent this evening at dinner aboard the vessel, and beyond. I will pay well if you keep my friend here and me entertained while we travel. Is this a fair arrangement?" |
When the party was chatting whit themselves Nadrak had looked out and seen them.
He took his scarf and hidded his face before he went on deck Nadrak looked out on the fellowship. It was a vary strange party nadrak thought. But no one looked like him. Then it happend again . Corunos eyes went green again. Coruno didnt know that Nadrak have seen it before. He goes down to greet them. |
well look, this is my friend nadrak, I kep him around for protecion.
*he smiles at nadrak and then looks out to the sea and says: we must hurry now whit all this delay we might not make it out of the harbour before sun down* Nadrak! help are passengers whit there bags, after that get komo and rumbin of there lazy as*s and start geting her out of the docks. |
"Yes, if you would be so kind, we would like to be shown to our quarters."
|
ok, follow me he says and boards the ship not looking if any one needs help to board. he walks down a small stairs down to a short hall *there is one dorr on the opposit side of the hall and three on the right side one on the left and the stairs kep going down* "down there is storage room I guees thats nothing intresting for you the first dorr to the right here is the crews room you elfs can take any bed thats empty but be prepard that nadrak here snoores alot here your rom mormegil, it use to be a weaponary but i cleand it out a redid it alitle I think you will have in comfy in there, and the thrird dorr here is the wizard room. After we set sail il be right down the hall in the captians courter.I hope you will entertain your selfs for a while, when i help to get this ship out of the harbour.

The elf and half-elf exchanged looks, then walked into the crew's room. After a brief investigation of the room, the two chose a double bunk positioned near the door, so it was possible to see anyone in the hallway or in the room. Lyulfe placed their things underneath the lower bunk, while Skye tested the mattress on the top bunk.
After arranging their things, the two walked down towards Mormegil's room. Skye rapped gently on the closed door. "I wonder if he's done storing his things," she asked Lyulfe, who shrugged. "I hope he is, it would be nice for all of us passengers to get a chance to talk. Maybe I can play my harp to help break the tension," she said brightly, considering the thought. ooc- Oh, I thought this would be a good thing to mention... I will be out of town until the day before New Years, and am leaving today for FL... technically I was supposed to have left already, but packing and presents have taken longer than thought, so I'm still at home. I should be able to access the internet while I'm down there, but just in case I can't, here's a heads up. And if I do have internet access, I won't be on as much as I am at home. Mormegil
Mormegil heard the gentle tap on the door, and came to answer it. Seeing the elf and half-elf, he invited them in to chat. When they were seated and comfortable, he asked, "So what can I do for you this evening, friends?" OOC>>>I'll take my chance that you will be able to answer me. If not...then I'll get myself out of the standing question. I will give you time to post, unless the DM does not approve. |
ooc- got access, w00t :D
ic- Skye smiled amiably at Mormegil. "Well, I just got the notion in my head that all the passengers should get together and have some nice conversation. Of course, I can provide the background music if anyone wants. We just need to find a place big enough and comfortable enough for all of us." She glanced around. "I don't think you would want to offer the use of your rooms to all of us... although the only other passenger missing is the wizard Coruno spoke of." Lyulfe was silent during Skye's animated speech. Once she finished talking he asked, "For what purpose are you traveling across the water for? Not to pry, of course," he added, after a small scowl from Skye, "I'm just curious, is all. I think it rubbed off on me from being around Skye for so long," he finished dryly with a wry grin, and the aforementioned half-elf smacked his arm lightly and pouted. |
Mormegil
"No, no..your quote alright in asking that. I have nothing to hide. As I have told you, My name is Mormegil Dragonslayer. My grandfather was famous for his adventures...which earned him the name, and the fortune that I now enjoy. But my heart has been restless since the day that I was old enough to understand that my father's blood was spilled to bring this luxurious life upon me. I have decided that it be my fate to find and destroy a red dragon, in my father's name and to my honor...that I be not one that is called evil for living on the earnings that my father had died for. I want to put this shadow over me to rest." [ 12-21-2003, 04:29 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |

Just at that moment, an audible chuckle was heard outside the door - not a genuine laugh, but rather, a skeptical one. Before anyone could react, the door flung open to reveal a lad with a toothy grin, soot-smeared cheeks and a grimy cap. Filthy rags hung from his lanky frame and he raised a dirty hand in mock salute. "Sooo... you're looking for fame and fortune, eh?" ~ The voice was uncommonly spritely ~ "Now, don't frown so... " ~ Chewing exaggeratedly on a straw sticking out from the corner of his right lip ~ "... I mean no harm, truly." ~ He shoved both hands into the pockets of his tattered shorts, then giggled as he pulled them out, revealing two torn pockets. "As you can see, I could do with a little more coin, even at the risk of my pathetic little life." ~ His dark brown eyes caught the light of the crackling fire on the side ~ "What say you? Can I join, huh? Can I?" There was a mixture of impertinence, childishness and impatience in his voice, as he stood, watching his audience almost as warily as they did, of him. |
ooc: My apologies for not posting, had Jury Duty on friday and busy weekend!!
:D Where at in Florida Skye ? and what do ya think of our fine weather, hehe ic: Walking to the ship behind everyone, he tried to get in more peopleish mood but due to his nature he just couldnt converse well enough so he decided to fall behind everyone. Double checking is small rucksack to make sure he had indeed grabbed everything he would need he smiled reassured. Components in water tight pouch's, parchment, quick silver, looks like it's all here. Looking up he noticed that he had lost the group all together and so had to check to make sure he was going in the right direction." Well heck, let's see ere now, yep this is the right dock " looking down the dock he caught site of one the biggest crafts in the harbor and could only fathom a guess that this was indeed the ship, then he caught site of the captain and so headed in that direction. "Ahoy, permission to come aboard " he yelled out to the ship. |
