Is there anything good to fight or get in Temple Ruins?

Well, there's a bunch of shadows, and a dragon. Dragon drops scales which can be used to make armour. It's leather with AC 1. And when you kill the Shade Lord, he drops a couple of magic items. And there's the reward from the mayor which you get when you complete the quest.

There is also a very important scroll dropped by the dragon. It tells how to create one of the most powerful weapons in the game.

and with the right equipment fights are eeasy! and get you a lot of XP.

Good equipment doesn't net you more exp

Don't forget the Arla's Dragonbane +3 sling...not to mention the sunfire bullets that go with it.

For some reason I have trouble believing that little rocks that explode into little patches of flame can injure a dragon, especially a red one... But that's just me :D .

I have another question related to the Temple Ruins. As there is a second shadow door in there that I have never found a way of opening for. Is there any? Or should I content myself with walking over that lava patch every time?

Zarr 08-18-2003 05:18 PM

There is no way to open that door so you have to walk over the lava unfortunately.

Pyrenk 08-18-2003 05:21 PM

Confirmed.

Chapter 5 spoilers (do NOT highlight unless you've finished Chapter 5)

***Remember that light gem you get from the mayor in the sfvirneblin village? Pass back through the dungeon with it, and you'll be able to crack the door. Has a nifty stash of loot in there.***

White Lancer 08-18-2003 10:53 PM

What would this nifty stash entail? I've never heard of it personally, but ten, i've never gone back there after chapter 3 either.

Pyrenk 08-18-2003 11:08 PM

I don't know of anyone else who has returned and used the gem; hasn't crossed their minds

I doubt the contents are that good, however...none of the very good items are found there

It's holy fire. I find it easy to believe that 'little rocks that explode into little patches of flame' can hurt anything when a God gets involved.

perlninja 08-19-2003 03:27 PM

Besides, it's the sling itself that has the +mod vs dragons. Load it up with whatever you want. However, it is better to save the fire bullets for Undead.

Game Trivia:
--------

Take heed that the Sling of Everand's only advantage is its' unlimited phanthom bullets. It does not gain STR damage bonuses from magical bullets like the other slings do.

Pyrenk 08-20-2003 02:07 AM

I know, and Arla's with the Bag of Plenty is better vs. dragons anyway
