Karthias
Il help you with that Plaxica, I could use some work, it seems to get rather boring on this ship sometimes, I just wish we could get to this Dragon and be done with it so I could get my money! So did u have a good three days in the city? |
"Oh, I worked most of the time on the ship, only had one night out in the city. I saw you got a new armor while we were here. It looked some piece of equipment! Where did you get it? Did you have a good time in the city?
|
Oh yes this armour really is something isnt it!!! Well I got it from a well known merchant, well so says Mormegil, and if he knows him then he must be good!! I had a good time, got a chance to look at some different cultures, food etc. and had a good time with a particular lady (Karthias beams with delight.) so is this your first time on a ship? It would seem to me that you have had previous experience?

Its nothing big,some one has cut of the rope to one of the sails, I belive strongly that it is Jorok, we have long history togheter, so who is the new one? he looks at cal.

"I am Calarlyth..." Came the elf's responce. "Bladesinger." He shot a look at Lyulfe, "I'm just tagging along for the ride..." the elf smiled, "I can earn my keep, but I would rather pay for my passage - where are we headed, captain?" he offered the captain a small pouch. "I'm afraid there isn't much there, but - if a situation occurs where you need a blade, mine is yours." he looked up at Lyulfe with a slightly lopsided grin, "Unless you wish to hire me, Lord Lyulfe." His elven humour shouldn't be lost on Lyulfe; bladesingers didn't hire out. They did act as bodyguards and protectors, upon occasion, however. Cal's dragonet chirpped, and looked around, surveying the ship. In mindspeech, it spoke to it's master "Why are we staying on this ship, master?" it wringled its nose. "It stinks of humans! That one called Skye was pretty though... you should speak with her later." The little dragonet giggled wickedly, leaving an all too stunned Calarlyth speechless. That was the last thing on his mind, although, he admited privately, Skye did look pretty enough, not that he was interested though. Not at all. Trust Aryxon to make cheeky comments. The small dragonet chuckled to himself, and chirped in mindspeech "You two would make a cute couple..." Cal's face turned crimson with embaressment at this last remark, and without realising it, he yelled aloud, "ARYXON! WILL YOU SHUT YOUR SNOUT?!" the elf's sudden outburst woudl attract attention, and Cal coughed politely. "Uh, just a discussion with my familiar... about... certain issues. He is still young... and doesn't know what is proper yet..." the elf flicked the dragonet's nose, though not unkindly, more of a reprimand, and shot a guitly look at Lyulfe. No one else would witness the exchange.

"I had been a shipmate and a sailor in my earlier days, before I became a soldier for one of the nobles not far from here. But as you see I'm not one of his mercenaries any more, so I've decided to become a shipfaring type, although if the captain desires or the need arises, my sword is ready for combat also." Then he suddenly noted a new elf by Lyulfe's side and said to Karthias before he knew anger would take him for all the pain inflicted on him by the elves earlier "You must excuse me, but I had taken the nightwatch last night and I am very tired. With that he retired to his captain, but in his mind he made a decision that since he probably would have to be on a ship with 2 and a half elves he would somehow have to accept them, and be able to live alongside them. With thoughts similar to these he drifted into an uneasy sleep.

Rong Er
With characteristic glee, she began to dance on the wooden planks, clapping her hands ~ "Oh, what fun!" ~ Her eyes were alive with triumphant joy and her nose, quivering with excitement ~ "I love disagreements!" ~ And she turned to Skye, half-whispering ~ "Serves them right for mistreating me earlier." ~ She gave a mock scowl and half-stuck out her tongue. |
Stepping out on deck and hearing the comotion, Corinthian decided it would be best to stay below decks a bit longer, so he quietly went back to his room.
|
Rumbin who was standing right behind rong er went up to her and said whit a mad vocie: so you think some one sabotaging are ship is fun? you might want to stay on this harbour abit longer? why not until another ship picks you up? Why dont we go ask the captin what he thinks?
|
Lyulfe's eyes crinkled slightly at the corners as he had a sudden bout of coughing in an attempt to cover up his laugh. "It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who is at the receiving end of such things..." he quickly realized that he may have let on too much and refrained from saying anything more. "Will this... setback hinder the voyage any, Captain?" he asked, changing the subject.
~~~~~~~~~ Skye started to smile when Rumbin spoke up angrily. She turned around and frowned slightly. "She was only joking. I'm sorry if my friend offended you in any way, but she is not the reason why the rope was cut. Rong was merely trying to make light of the situation. She bowed slightly, then looked back at him. "I appologize that we found amusement in such a thing, but remember that we are not seafaring folk. I hope this is not a reflection of what is to come, for otherwise it will be a long voyage for all of us." Skye was trying her best to make amends with the sailor. She greatly dislikes when someone is upset with her, and takes it as a personal failure if she is unable to make things right. ~~~~~~~~ Lyulfe suddenly seemed distracted, and his eyes narrowed slightly. "Excuse me for a moment, I think Skye... should be back now. I just want to make sure." The elf excused himself amid the surprised looks and strode over to the other side of the boat where Rong Er, Skye and Rumbin were. "Why, hallo Skye, Rong Er. Back already?" he said mildly, interrupting the heated discussion. No one except those looking for it notices the grateful glance Skye gives Lyulfe and the look exchanged between them. |
Calarlyth laughed softly at Lyulfe and asked, "Your friend Skye tease you as much as Aryxon teases me?" he asked, raising an eyebrow and following the elder elf. Calarlyth hadn't guessed what Lyulfe really was... walking to the other end of the ship, he heard Rumbin had already started yelling, and the elf's eyes narrowed. "Wait one moment..." he began. "I don't know quite what you are talking about - but surely there is no need to argue." The elf's eyes were frosty. "Where I come from, it is custom to treat a lady with respect... is that not the case here?" He took a half step forward, and nodded to Rong Er. "Though, I am quite sure that the lady can speak for herself... I would appreciate it" the elf spoke slowly, through carefully measured words, "If you did not threaten anyone in my presence; especially those who are ladies or have elven blood within them." the bladesinger made a face and rolled his eyes. "Due to this oath I took, I would be compelled to protect any elves who happen to be within sight or earshot who require it. So please - if you're going to make threats - don't do it in front of me." The elf nodded to Rumbin, "That said, I hope we can get along." The elf paused and waited for everyone else to comment. He didn't look at Lyulfe...
OOC: Just in case any of you are wondering what I'm going on about when I mention "oaths" - its a bladesinger thing. ;) . [ 01-20-2004, 11:14 PM: Message edited by: Calaethis Dragonsbane ] |
Skye took a step forward. "Thank you, sir, for protecting us, but I do not wish for my relationships with people to be based on the fear of punishment or death. If Rumbin wishes to dislike me, then I can only attempt to gain his trust through my own actions." she added drily, "I do not wish to burden you with your oath. After all, I'm only half-blood. Most elves would regard me to be worth no more than the dirt they tread upon, if not less." She spoke this last statement with no trace of resentment or anger, merely in a matter-of-fact tone of voice.
[ 01-20-2004, 11:21 PM: Message edited by: Skydracgrrl ] |
Calarlyth grinned "Really, its no problem," he laughed softly, "It wasn't meant as a threat either - just a statement of fact. I won't force people to like one another - or try - but I don't want to see any blood spilt either." he shrugged, "Half elf or not, everyone has a right to life, and one shouldn't be based on their blood..." he stated, just as calmly. The elf grinned again, "Besides, anyone who treats you as dirt obviously hasn't seen your more... appealing features. Did anyone mention you have the most amazing eyes?" he asked, without realising what he was saying. Suddenly he blushed, "Uh, I speak too much. Forgive me, my lady." The elf bowed to hide his embarrassment In the background, Aryxon snickered aloud. If any who knew magic did not know better, from the dragonet's wicked expression, they would have sworn the drake had influenced his master... such a thing, was of course, impossible...
|
Skye blushed slightly and ducked her head while Lyulfe looked on with a raised eyebrow. "Perhaps I was wrong," he murmured. "Now I see why Skye places me in such awkward situations, it's highly amusing." he glanced at Rong Er with penetrating eyes before averting his gaze to look reprovingly at Aryxon. "Although your familiar's personality is too much akin to Skye's for comfort," Lyulfe commented drily, rubbing the small dragon at a ticklish spot under its chin.
Mormegil
Mormegil was coming up from his cabin, and passed by Corinthian on his way up to the deck. He greeted him and moved on, needing some fresh air after his time he had spent reading in his room. He spotted his hired guard in a conversation with others on the ship, and as expected...it appeared that the captain had picked up some new faces. He spotted the bard over by the girl that had caused so much tension at the beginning of this voyage. Now she seemed to fit right in, as though she had never been held bound in ropes and dirty. She had cleaned up fairly well. Something about her face and accent however had begun to play about in his mind however, for he seemed to be convinced that she reminded him of somebody he had met before. At length, he realized that it would indeed be a long voyage, as had just spoken one of the newcomers to the ship...if people were at ends with one another. He decided that a simple apology would not lessen his pride, and probably make him feel better. His mother had taught him well enough to know of such honor, as this so-called bladesinger had just now said in presenting himself to the others. He walked up casually to the lady...Rong and said, "Excuse me. I just...I just wanted to apologize for calling you a thief. I misjudged you, and hope we can be on good terms with one another. My name is Mormgegil. Morm is just fine." [ 01-21-2004, 02:16 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
The dragonet giggled, and chuckled wickledly, wrapping his tail around Lyulfe's finger, in a half hearted effort to stop him. The little creature was enjoying all the attention. He put on his best look of mock innocence, so adorable and false, it made his master burst out in gales of laughter. "Aryxon!" Calarlyth grinned, "You're terrible!" the little dragonet chirped innocently, and nibbled on Lyulfe's finger, before jumping up and flying over to Skye. It stuck it's tone out at the two elves, and settled on Skye's shoulder, nuzzling her. Calarlyth just looked shocked. "He's never done that before! To anyone..." he gasped, in a half whisper. Aryxon just chripped and looked smug.
Rong Er
She smirked at the bustle of conversation following her comment ~ Just as I thought they would. ~ A quick rake across the scene set her off on her sniggering again ~ "Oh, it isn't my fault that all this happened, you know." ~ Her voice was airily lazy ~ "Perhaps the gods choose to show you how you've abused me so abominably earlier." ~ A streak flashed across her eyes ever so fast, it was a wonder this was detected ~ "And there's no need to threaten to shove me off the ship." ~ It doesn't matter now, really. Not when he is around... I will miss Skye, though. ~ "If you kept me onboard, it was because you felt you had a use for me." ~ Self-assured was her tone as she continued unhurriedly ~ "If the reason no longer exists, I shall remove myself from this party." ~ And then, her challenging tone became evident ~ "Some among you are nothing but a bunch of pompous, misjudging fools." ~ She began to tap her feet impatiently. |
Skye smiled cutely (ooc- cutely? o.o; ) and, after holding her fingers out for the dragonet to smell, pet the cheeky creature. "Aren't you just a wicked little thing!" she said with a giggle of her own, forgetting - for the moment - the previous arguement.
"Oh god," Lyulfe uttered. "They're bonding. There'll be no peace for anyone for the rest of the voyage now. I can't play "conscience" for two rapscallions." The exasperated and slightly bemused look on his face sent Skye into more peals of laughter. He turned to Rong Er. "If Skye tries to get you involved in any hairbrained schemes of hers, let me know before any harm comes to pass," Lyulfe said to her. He then paused, taken aback, as he let her last comment sink in. "I'm... sorry you feel that way," he at last said a bit stiffly as he avoided her gaze. Skye's laughter faded as she took in the recent turn of events. "But Rong Er, I want you to stay! It won't be half as fun without you, and I'll be the only girl among all this masculinity!" she waved a desperate arm, almost dislodging her newfound companion. She emitted a squeak when she felt claws dig into her shoulder in order to retain balance. She gave the dragonet an appologetic look. "Sorry, got a little excited there." Skye looked back at Rong. "Pleeeeaassse say you'll stay?" she asked, doing her best attempt at puppy eyes which made her more comical than sad looking. edit- it's annoying when you make a nice post and then you have to change it because someone posted 5 seconds before you did... Oddly enough, the dragonet added his own sad-eye'd look and chirped unhappily. It hung it's head, and looked for all the world, as unhappy as Skye did. Calarlyth on the other hand was not looking too amused. He muttered darkly under his breath about others having the nerve to 'abuse' ladies... but didn't say anything, standing to Lyulfe's side, rather then do - or say anything rash. A restraining hand on his wouldn't have gone amiss. Aryxon, meanwhile chirpped sadly, and tugged at Skye's hair, his eyes pitiful. Skye could have sworn he had understood every word...
The fluttering of a large bird could be heard above the crew of the ship as a large Albatros gently glided on the warm air currents of the harbor. Lazily it circled and then dove into with a minimal splash disappearing beneath the surface of the water, only to reappear a few moments later and fly up to the crows nest on the main mast. The bird flicked the contents of its mouth into the large look out basket and hopped in after it.
Karthias
Karthias was getting a bit bored of waiting around, he wanted to be getting going and he was most certainly not amused by this little cifufll(sp?) "When will we be leaving Karthias shouted to the captain among the din of sailors? Is there enough time for one last look around the town?" |
Occ:Karthias, do you want to take a last look in the town or can we leav?
Rumbin Rumbin was getting very annoyed whit the elfs and five more sailors came and stood behind him. Hima came up whit his hand on the spear by his side now what seams to be the problem here rumbin? This girl here was singing happaly about the sabotage that has accurde on are ship, and then her litle friends started to make threats. now we cant let that happen can we? No we cant let the captians life be in danger. it doesent seem safe to have alot of threats on a ship whit the great coruno. |
Mormegil
He said his piece, but then heard the bitter words of the woman without being acknowledged that he had even spoke. He knew that her words, although directed at this newcomer...was intentionally subdirected at him as well. He felt remorse for what he had done... But just then...the one called Skye called her by name. It was the first time he had heard her name...but it's weight was something more, as though he were familiar with it. "Rong...Er...Er...Er...Rong...where have I heard that name?" Mormegil put his hand to his chin, rubbing it and frowning...trying to pull a name from his memory. When it hit him, he nearly lost his breath. "I knew a man once, whose name was Huang Yao Shi...and his daughter was Huang Rong." He pointed an accusing finger at Rong. "Do you know this man that I speak of?" OOC>>>I hope I played that out right, Mistral. Have you changed anything since we talked last? [ 01-22-2004, 11:56 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
Skye's sad puppy face quickly deteriorated into a frantic worry as her head turned back and forth between the angered men, as if watching a tennis match. "Ahahahha, now now then," she broke in with a nervous laugh, waving her hand airily. "Really, there's no need for that, now is there, gentlemen? I'm sure we're just itching to be off is all. Things should calm down once we get off the dock," she tried to placify the tense men.
She strided up to Mormegil in three steps, her gaze never wavering and defiance setting her face on fire ~ "So what if I do?" ~ Practically spitting at him ~ "Do you think you are privileged to mention that name?" ~ Both hands folded slightly as she played with her sleeves momentarily, then dropped ~ "Don't contaminate it." ~ And she began to circle Mormegil slowly, her shifty eyes glimpsing around to note everyone's response. [ 01-22-2004, 07:57 PM: Message edited by: mistral4543 ] |
How dare he speak of Father like that... ~ The venom in her eyes sprayed at Mormegil as he began walking away and she raised her right hand ~ How dare he malign him... ~ A quick flick and three needles sailed across at this pathetic nobody that her father had dismissed as completely unworthy of tutoring ~ "Nobody speaks of my Father like that, least of all you!" As the needles struck Mormegil on the three vital points of his upper torso, she somersaulted into the air, leaping backwards several feet and off the ship, her clear voice ringing with fury. "You'll never find the antidote of this poison, for your carelessly chosen words!" ~ With that, she began somersaulting away again, in apparent flight. OOC>>> Larry, check our usual bulletin for an update on this |
Plaxica was just getting reado to have his sleep when he heard all of the commotion outside. He quickly dressed and went outside just in time to see the person he recognised as Mormegil being hit by needles in the back. "Captain there is trouble over here." - he shouted and started running over to the scene.
with a great sqwack the bird that hard disappeared into the crows nest above shot up and into the air just as Rong Er's needles had hit there marks, the bird circled lazily above, altering it's course slowly as though it were following something below.
Karhtias As soon as Karthias had seen this woman he knew there would be trouble. The clarity of what he had thought now rang true as he saw Mormegil fall to the ground. At first he just stood there, dumbfounded. But after a couple of seconds his warrior insincts kicked in and he ran to where Rong Er had dived into the water and Dived in himself. He was not the best of swimmers but luckily he didnt have his armour on at that point or else he really would have been in trouble!
Mormegil
Years of training had taught him agility and awareness. He had learned them from the finest teachers that money would buy. Except for one man. One man had refused to sell his trade to Mormegil's arrogance and prideful manner. It was for this reason that Mormegil had not received the one vital lesson that would have saved him this day. He had dove to the ground as he had been trained well enough to hear the woman readying the throw...but he was not as fast as she...she who had been the daughter of the man that refused him education. Too slow had Mormegil moved, and he took all three pins in the back, in places that Mormegil had not learned about well enough to understand their danger. He had been told just now that there was a poison administered in those deathly pricks. He stood up and removed the needles, but knew that it was no good. He trusted Rong's word that poison had been injected into his body. "By the Gods...she didn't even tell me how long I have to live!" He saw his bodyguard leap after her, but Mormegil wished he had not done that, for this girl clearly could kill whoever she wanted without trouble. Karthias was probably going to be the next casualty. He turned back around and walked slowly and pensively back to his cabin on the ship. OOC>>>Anybody see the movie Kiss of the Dragon? The figure was swimming away from her, and back towards the blasted ship where that hateful, pompous foreigner was still residing. For now, at least...
