My Paladin has 3 attacks per round with the holy avenger. WHY?
This is with no patch, no equipment (except for the sword)

This is normal. You're not GM in 2-handed. My fighter does 4 attacks per round but he's got boots of speed, grandmastery in 2-handed and he's level 15.

Also remember the penalties you face dual weilding, decreasing the liklihood of a hit.

The thing to be said about dual wielding in its defence is that its not all about straight damage calculations using 2 +3 longswords. The best reason to dual wield is the additional abilities of the 1 handed weapons. There is TONS of good 1h weapons in the game and wielding 2 at a time can really pile on the specials. I like to throw a weapon in my offhand that sorta fits the situation and I tend to run my best weapon in my mainhand. having a weapon in the offhand that gives say resistance to fear or something can make a huge diff in a fight if you know you are facing fear (dragons, symbol fear etc). This is where a 2handed sword has trouble keeping up. for some real fun try Celestial fury and flail of the ages (pixie prick works ok here too) and watch your enemy try to even make an attack http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

As far as I know, the weapon proficiency bonus ( to hit and damage bonus ) only applies to the main weapon and does not apply to the second weapon. Thats also why you miss out on the extra attack with it.

That's too bad that the extra attack which dual wielding gives you is being acted only with your off-hand weapon. That's too bad.

Dual wielding does not sounds good to me anymore. It gives you only 1 additional attacks. And this attack has a -2 penalty etc
