Yes, I pass all the test in BG Config and dxdiag.
I use a NVIDIA GeForce MX/MX400 from Gainward. I know, it's a bit old, but I never had any problems with it.
Oh, and one thing: The boxes are moved to one side, but there is no space on the other side.

This sounds like a graphics-card issue. You don't need a newer video card (it is a very old game). Maybe you can fix the settings. Try turning 3D Accelleration OFF in your BG Config program (it's in your BG2 folder).
