Monk is not a bad class to solo with, the hardest i ever did was an archer. it was hard, but very fun because i had to totally change me tactics cos' of lack of both spellcasting AND melee focus. but it did get quite boring after a while with the run, shoot, run away etc.
ive always felt that a druid would be quite fun to do solo, that or maybe wizard slayer

Prolly begin with a nice game of Kensai/Mage dualclass... (from my history this was the most fun solo ive did so far :D )

Greetings browns1977.

I am currently playing my very first solo game also. I've only played the game all the way through once, but I've played through Chapters 2-3 a few times with different classes and party set-ups.

I chose the Skald (Bard kit) and I've actually been surprised at how easy some of the fights I dreaded were. As mentioned before, you gain levels MUCH faster when you go solo, so your power level rises much quicker too. That means that you are probably 4-5 levels higher than you were before when you get to those tough fights.

I am also chronicling my solo adventure in this forum, but I'm waaaaaay behind right now. You'll see it when I have time to update it again.

One thing I have noticed is that traps are not nearly as serious a problem as I anticipated. I can use a Mirror Image or just take the damage (which usually isn't very high).

The multi-class that I feel would be most powerful is the fighter/mage. Great melee' skills combined with a full complement of spellcasting ability. That should let you handle any monster or encounter in the game.

It is funny that I haven't even finished my run with my current party and I am already planning my next one. Is that bad?

I think I will take your advice and not solo. But I think I am going to go with a PC and 2 or 3 others. Keep it a small party. Right now I have a full party. I think I am just getting a little bored with my Barb. All he really does is rage, get hurt a lot, and obliterate things with his 2 handed sword.
