Calarlyth laughed softly at Lyulfe and asked, "Your friend Skye tease you as much as Aryxon teases me?" he asked, raising an eyebrow and following the elder elf. Calarlyth hadn't guessed what Lyulfe really was... walking to the other end of the ship, he heard Rumbin had already started yelling, and the elf's eyes narrowed. "Wait one moment..." he began. "I don't know quite what you are talking about - but surely there is no need to argue." The elf's eyes were frosty. "Where I come from, it is custom to treat a lady with respect... is that not the case here?" He took a half step forward, and nodded to Rong Er. "Though, I am quite sure that the lady can speak for herself... I would appreciate it" the elf spoke slowly, through carefully measured words, "If you did not threaten anyone in my presence; especially those who are ladies or have elven blood within them." the bladesinger made a face and rolled his eyes. "Due to this oath I took, I would be compelled to protect any elves who happen to be within sight or earshot who require it. So please - if you're going to make threats - don't do it in front of me." The elf nodded to Rumbin, "That said, I hope we can get along." The elf paused and waited for everyone else to comment. He didn't look at Lyulfe...
OOC: Just in case any of you are wondering what I'm going on about when I mention "oaths" - its a bladesinger thing. ;) . [ 01-20-2004, 11:14 PM: Message edited by: Calaethis Dragonsbane ] |
Skye took a step forward. "Thank you, sir, for protecting us, but I do not wish for my relationships with people to be based on the fear of punishment or death. If Rumbin wishes to dislike me, then I can only attempt to gain his trust through my own actions." she added drily, "I do not wish to burden you with your oath. After all, I'm only half-blood. Most elves would regard me to be worth no more than the dirt they tread upon, if not less." She spoke this last statement with no trace of resentment or anger, merely in a matter-of-fact tone of voice.

Calarlyth grinned "Really, its no problem," he laughed softly, "It wasn't meant as a threat either - just a statement of fact. I won't force people to like one another - or try - but I don't want to see any blood spilt either." he shrugged, "Half elf or not, everyone has a right to life, and one shouldn't be based on their blood..." he stated, just as calmly. The elf grinned again, "Besides, anyone who treats you as dirt obviously hasn't seen your more... appealing features. Did anyone mention you have the most amazing eyes?" he asked, without realising what he was saying. Suddenly he blushed, "Uh, I speak too much. Forgive me, my lady." The elf bowed to hide his embarrassment In the background, Aryxon snickered aloud. If any who knew magic did not know better, from the dragonet's wicked expression, they would have sworn the drake had influenced his master... such a thing, was of course, impossible...

Skye blushed slightly and ducked her head while Lyulfe looked on with a raised eyebrow. "Perhaps I was wrong," he murmured. "Now I see why Skye places me in such awkward situations, it's highly amusing." he glanced at Rong Er with penetrating eyes before averting his gaze to look reprovingly at Aryxon. "Although your familiar's personality is too much akin to Skye's for comfort," Lyulfe commented drily, rubbing the small dragon at a ticklish spot under its chin.

Mormegil
Mormegil was coming up from his cabin, and passed by Corinthian on his way up to the deck. He greeted him and moved on, needing some fresh air after his time he had spent reading in his room. He spotted his hired guard in a conversation with others on the ship, and as expected...it appeared that the captain had picked up some new faces. He spotted the bard over by the girl that had caused so much tension at the beginning of this voyage. Now she seemed to fit right in, as though she had never been held bound in ropes and dirty. She had cleaned up fairly well. Something about her face and accent however had begun to play about in his mind however, for he seemed to be convinced that she reminded him of somebody he had met before. At length, he realized that it would indeed be a long voyage, as had just spoken one of the newcomers to the ship...if people were at ends with one another. He decided that a simple apology would not lessen his pride, and probably make him feel better. His mother had taught him well enough to know of such honor, as this so-called bladesinger had just now said in presenting himself to the others. He walked up casually to the lady...Rong and said, "Excuse me. I just...I just wanted to apologize for calling you a thief. I misjudged you, and hope we can be on good terms with one another. My name is Mormgegil. Morm is just fine." [ 01-21-2004, 02:16 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
The dragonet giggled, and chuckled wickledly, wrapping his tail around Lyulfe's finger, in a half hearted effort to stop him. The little creature was enjoying all the attention. He put on his best look of mock innocence, so adorable and false, it made his master burst out in gales of laughter. "Aryxon!" Calarlyth grinned, "You're terrible!" the little dragonet chirped innocently, and nibbled on Lyulfe's finger, before jumping up and flying over to Skye. It stuck it's tone out at the two elves, and settled on Skye's shoulder, nuzzling her. Calarlyth just looked shocked. "He's never done that before! To anyone..." he gasped, in a half whisper. Aryxon just chripped and looked smug.

Rong Er
She smirked at the bustle of conversation following her comment ~ Just as I thought they would. ~ A quick rake across the scene set her off on her sniggering again ~ "Oh, it isn't my fault that all this happened, you know." ~ Her voice was airily lazy ~ "Perhaps the gods choose to show you how you've abused me so abominably earlier." ~ A streak flashed across her eyes ever so fast, it was a wonder this was detected ~ "And there's no need to threaten to shove me off the ship." ~ It doesn't matter now, really. Not when he is around... I will miss Skye, though. ~ "If you kept me onboard, it was because you felt you had a use for me." ~ Self-assured was her tone as she continued unhurriedly ~ "If the reason no longer exists, I shall remove myself from this party." ~ And then, her challenging tone became evident ~ "Some among you are nothing but a bunch of pompous, misjudging fools." ~ She began to tap her feet impatiently. |
Skye smiled cutely (ooc- cutely? o.o; ) and, after holding her fingers out for the dragonet to smell, pet the cheeky creature. "Aren't you just a wicked little thing!" she said with a giggle of her own, forgetting - for the moment - the previous arguement.
"Oh god," Lyulfe uttered. "They're bonding. There'll be no peace for anyone for the rest of the voyage now. I can't play "conscience" for two rapscallions." The exasperated and slightly bemused look on his face sent Skye into more peals of laughter. He turned to Rong Er. "If Skye tries to get you involved in any hairbrained schemes of hers, let me know before any harm comes to pass," Lyulfe said to her. He then paused, taken aback, as he let her last comment sink in. "I'm... sorry you feel that way," he at last said a bit stiffly as he avoided her gaze. Skye's laughter faded as she took in the recent turn of events. "But Rong Er, I want you to stay! It won't be half as fun without you, and I'll be the only girl among all this masculinity!" she waved a desperate arm, almost dislodging her newfound companion. She emitted a squeak when she felt claws dig into her shoulder in order to retain balance. She gave the dragonet an appologetic look. "Sorry, got a little excited there." Skye looked back at Rong. "Pleeeeaassse say you'll stay?" she asked, doing her best attempt at puppy eyes which made her more comical than sad looking. edit- it's annoying when you make a nice post and then you have to change it because someone posted 5 seconds before you did... Oddly enough, the dragonet added his own sad-eye'd look and chirped unhappily. It hung it's head, and looked for all the world, as unhappy as Skye did. Calarlyth on the other hand was not looking too amused. He muttered darkly under his breath about others having the nerve to 'abuse' ladies... but didn't say anything, standing to Lyulfe's side, rather then do - or say anything rash. A restraining hand on his wouldn't have gone amiss. Aryxon, meanwhile chirpped sadly, and tugged at Skye's hair, his eyes pitiful. Skye could have sworn he had understood every word...

The fluttering of a large bird could be heard above the crew of the ship as a large Albatros gently glided on the warm air currents of the harbor. Lazily it circled and then dove into with a minimal splash disappearing beneath the surface of the water, only to reappear a few moments later and fly up to the crows nest on the main mast. The bird flicked the contents of its mouth into the large look out basket and hopped in after it.
