My other Half has just bought an electronic Dictaphone thing, to record messages to send to her grandparents in New Zealand.
I can download them onto the computer in wave sound format, but how can I convert it to CD audio track so the CD will play in a CD player? I have Nero 5.5.1.5 and window media player 7.00.00.1440. Can anyone help? Is there someway to do it with the things I have or if there is a super programme that I can download with idiot proof instructions? Thanks Target.

Songs in .wav, .wmv, .mp3 and some others(depending on your burning software and upgrades) can be burned to a CD using the Audio CD option. The songs on the CD will be readable by CD players almost everywhere.

Either of those programs should be able to handle it. Nero should have a burn option, just make a music cd, and choose the files you want to burn onto the cd, it should automatically convert them. I know the Media Player will do that as well.

Open an AudioCD window in Nero, drag 'n' drop the .wav files, Press "burn".

Wav is higher quality than mp3 too (if thats what you are used to) so the recordings should be a little crisper on CD playback.

I tried to 'drag and drop' but got a unrecognised file error message pop up. Any ideas?

strange.
that should not have happened. try making a few duplicate copies of the file in subdirectories to experiment with them. what I would try to do is see why is it saying the file is not recognized. check out what the specific ending of the file is before attempting to burn again. as I have found out, some programs will save a file in alternative endings that Windows (or OS X) will identify as useable, but other programs will not. (exampli gratias: *.Wave, *.Mpeg, *.Jpeg) if that is the case, you may have to rename the file to the more traditional three character ending.

What, if any, software came with your burner? Perhaps you can open that software to generate the cd files you need. While rare, I have seen this before. Of course, my DVDrom/CD writer came with Nero 6, so that's a no brainer for me, since I was already using an earlier version of Nero.

After looking in more detail I think the file is an IMA not a WAV file, anyone know what one of those is?
