TORONTO (CP) - An Egyptian refugee suspected of being a terrorist with links to Osama bin Laden said Tuesday that his human rights have been violated repeatedly by prison guards during the four years he's been behind bars in Canada.

Mohammad Mahjoub told a Federal Court bail hearing that his time at the Toronto West Detention Centre has been spent in constant fear, especially after the 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.

He described his life after Sept. 11, 2001 as "something like hell."

While I don't agree with the guards actions if the allegations are true, I don't feel sorry with the man either. What did he think would happen by aligning himself with such a shadowy organization? Were does he think he is, band camp?

One must also ask, if we had fallen into the hands of him, or his fellows as captives would we have fared better or worse?

Actually, one must ask where the line between being a revolutionary and a terrorist is. Did the man commit acts of terrorism? Or did he just belong to a group that advocated overthrow of the government? Did that group also advocate terrorism to pursue its goals?

All interesting questions, and I need to figure out the answers so I can advise my favorite client, Tyler Durdin.

I would probably be dead, and tortured by the fact that I would not know the exact time thay are going to kill me so I would say worse. However some may prefer death to being tortured by mere words and loud noise.

Reminds me of a Bugs Bunny cartoon I saw once.

So he's been in prison for about 4 years. Holding someone indefinately with only charges is wrong, even if it's legal. Give him a trial at least, though I'm pretty sure a terrorist suspect is going to have a pretty hard time getting a fair trial if a jury is involved.
