I woke up today to these news... it's horrible.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3500452.stm

Somehow I doubt ETA is behind it, they usually don't do so huge attacks in recent years and have a record of warning authorities before they bomb... unfortunatly this looks more like Al Quieda...

But what do I know...

Death toll is now over 130. Last month two members of ETA were arrested on the way to Madrid with a lorry load of explosives.

Dreadful news.

I guess we'll here more about who's responsible. Even if ETA doesn't claim responsibility for this act, I fear there will be further blood spilled between them and the military/police.

I was just about to post this same article...
Editing to add I don't know what, I don't really have words for it. I think this is the worst ETA attack (death-count-wise) since the year I was born (1980) - what a shock it must be to all the people in Spain.

No one has claimed responsibility for it yet which is a worry. I'm fairly sure ETA always make an announcement. Al Quaida on the other hand never do. Also, simultaneous atteacks are an Al Quaida trademark.

For selfish reasons I hope that it is ETA.

Yeah, I was thrown off by the name-dropping in the article, and the conviction with which the interior minister and others said it was ETA's doing. But no, there hasn't been an official claim.

Anyone have a good link regarding ETA and, more importantly, the separatist movement?

Why would you prefer it to be ETA, D1?

Because if it isn't ETA we are facing another hysteria concerning terrorists in the world. Countries pointing at each other, blaming each other etcetera, I would say.

A decent site giving information about ETA is this one: http://www.teror.gen.tr/english/organisations/eta.html

On http://www.cnn.com/ it says that there's found a van with detonators and a tape with texts from the Koran in Arabic. They're investigating if it's connected to the bombings.

This action is totally sick.My thoughts go out to all victims and their families.
