I'm half considering getting this game, but I want to know if it’s any good. I'm somewhat sceptical about it to be honest. I'm not sure how true an RPG - or a strategy game it is. It could be really good, but equally, it could be pulled off incredibly poorly - so I wondered if anyone's actually played it yet, and if so, is it worth buying?

Well... the game has two parts. It's mostly an rts with some RPG elements. You build a town and depending on how you place your buildings it affect your units, and you get xp when your units fight. You can use that xp to level up units and have them get new skills. You get to chose one hero from 4 per faction, and you can get him items. You can also do quests.

Then there is the underworld. That's where you get your cash to build your town and army. You send some characters there, let's say your hero, a rogue and a paladin, and they explore crypts, the rogue can remove traps and unlock treasure chests, you encounter ennemies and quests.

The underworld is just a second top down map with some rules changed, don't expect an adventure game.

I thought the game was decent. The single player advanture is fun, playing against the computer in skirmish is horrible, but playing with/against friends is fun. It's not my favorite rts, but it was interesting.

Hmm, okay. Thanks for that . Is there much replayability? or even a storyline? Most RTSs seem to be lacking in that department.

There is a storyline, and I liked it. The single player feel much more like an rpg than the skirmish, because of the cutscenes with the heroes and such.
