I have a few questions about the Sims 2...

Can you still have a baby like in the original where after a while a couple has an opportunity to have a baby, or do you have to actually make one in the create family bit? Because I wanted to start off easy with just the couple, but they both have an aspiration to have a baby so I'm wondering if, when I'm ready, I have to move them out and add to their family or what.

Is there any way to change the angle of viewing? I want to look down on them a bit more but when you zoom in you also flatten out so if you're quite close you're looking at their sides not the tops of their heads.

Also, how do you position the chess board? I have my board set up with an armchair on one side, and I have tried every position for the board and my sim still says he can't play it because there's nowhere to sit. Are armchairs no good?

I'm having fun with it though! I love making characters!

Thanks

1)Yep, you can have a baby at any time during their adult life, but not when they are elders.

2)The only way I know how to do that is in the building mode, but someone else might know.

3)When you buy the chess set, use the arm tool to select it and then drag your mouse towards the chair and it should position istself fine.

1. Yes, However a certain correction to Hivetyrant post. You can still have baby if the elder is male and the adult is female.

2. At bottom left corner there is some arrow to change the viewing.

1) When your sims are all hot and bothered (in the bed usually) you can get them to 'try for baby', which is just that. Apparently different objects have different success rates. I read somewhere that the lovetub has 50%, while normally only has 30% or 25%.

2) Hold down CTRL and the RMB. Move mouse as needed.

3) Armchairs are no good. You have to use one of those smaller wooden type chairs. I had this same problem, and after fiddling, finally got it to work. Make sure you put two chairs on either side of the board. You can see where the 'timer' is, so put the chairs on either side of it. Putting a chair across from the timer accomplishes nothing except ranting sims

Thanks for all the help! I always used an armchair in the original for my chessboard (that spiffy yellow one ). And two chairs, even if he just wants to practice? LOL I saw quite a bit of the chess angst from my sim

ROFL LOA . Actually, once we ordered a game, can't remember what it was now, but instead of that game they sent us Dark Age of Camelot! Which we, of course, sent back

I think you can only put one chair if you want to practice, but I haven't tried that as of yet.

Well, I put in two, and a whole bunch of people came over to welcome my family when he was practising and one of them sat down to play wih him and now he's made a friend! Awww

And my sims tried baby-making (was quite complicated to figure out how to get them to do it, finally I tried relaxing on the bed and there you go! Who knew they'd go straight to sleep afterwards though, my female sim had to get up in the middle of the night dying from hunger ) and now my female is throwing up in the toilet, good sign? I'm a little alarmed by the '27 days before you're an elder' thingy, how will I fulfill all their hopes and dreams by then! And bring up the suspected foetus?

You can turn the aging off if you wish. I forget how to access the cheat console, but I'm sure you can find that out.

I think it's CTRL+ALT+~, but I'm not sure.

When you access it, you can type "aging off" (without the quotes, obviously) to turn the aging process off.

This would be best to do when you have 1 day left. That way you can halt the aging process until you want to age, and presto! Aging done.

I would think that the throwing up in the toilet is a good thing. But I honestly don't know, I detest babies.

Well it was! I now have a little baby sim and my Fim has gone platinum (I'm expecting someone to present her with a framed CD and album cover montage any minute now ). LOL I'm thinking my Mim isn't planning on bonding too much with the baby - one of his fears is to change a diaper... I was annoyed though, he used to have an aspiration to have a baby but it was changed before the baby arrived - should have locked it, darnit. I love some of my Fim's aspirations though - at the moment she aspires to have a lunch meat sandwich

Anyway I have a couple more questions.

One of my Mim's aspirations is to earn $2,500 - what does this mean exactly? Would he need $2,500 in his bank account or is it cumulative earnings that the game will keep track of, like if his salary was $500 a day if he worked for 5 days he'd reach his goal?

Also, I'm having trouble working out using the TV. I told my Mim to go work out, but he gets there and starts having 'work-out angst', much like chess angst - it's not that he's too tired/unhappy/etc to work out, he just can't for some reason. Is there some sort of TV-couch configuration that you need to get a work out going?

Thanks

Edit: I figured out the work out bit. But I have another problem - with the trash compactor. I couldn't find a normal bin; I'm assuming there is no such thing? Anyway, I tried to put in a trash compactor, and I have more than enough money and I can choose the item and move it around in my house to find somewhere to put it, but there seems to be nowhere that I can place it that is allowable. I've tried lot of places, even outside, in large open areas where there'd be no issues of being blocked by other stuff, but I can't put it anywhere, so I can't buy it. What's going on with that?
