There i am in the athkatla sewers under the Copper Coronet ...
Just scouted ahead and saw some ogre-type creatures, of which 2 were shamans. My saving-throws cant negate hold-person yet, so i decide to play the tactical game :
-I cast "web" 3 times into the crowd, no one is able to move.
-I then change into a sword spider to poison them to death

BUT ... my sword spider ISNt immune to the web .... ehr ... i dunno, but arent spiders supposed to be unaffected by this ???

I mean, my solo cleric/mage's primary tactic was a spell trigger with:
-Web, Web, Greater Malison
- and then a "spider summon"'s
Allways worked like a charme for me ...
But even baldurdash doesnt list it as a bug .. so am i wrong or ??

thx for any replies

When you shapechange, you don't exactly resemble the creature you are turning into, take the shapeshifters greater werewolf......it doesn't regenerate apart from the natural regen from the 25 CON. I've also noticed that the spider shapeshift doens't grant free action, and the sword spider doesn't poison with each attack whereas the Avengers sword spider does......

Daan:

I agree that this is a bug. Avengers (and Magi) ought to get free action during their spider transformation.

Jim:

My experience is different than yours. When a mage casts Polymorph Self, his spider form does do poison damage. Perhaps the time you used it your intended victim made its save vs. poison?

Or do you mean monster Sword Spiders don't poison with each hit? Because they sure do try to poison you ... I guess your character is making his saves!

Nifft,

I'm not sure about the mage, but I know that the Avenger Druid's sword spider transformation does deal poison damage each hit. Sword Spiders within the game do not poison you, this is done by spiders, huge spiders, giant spiders and Wraith spiders (disease). The sword spider doesn't poison because they have much larger melee combat bonuses like 5 attacks per round. I've just loaded an earlier saved game and gone beneath the graveyard district and engaged some sword spiders and they just deal physical damage (i.e. no poison damage, and no saving throw messages). I was just pointing out that when my avengers druid shapeshifts into a sword spider, he deals poison whereas sword spiders within the game do not.

Thanks for the correction, Jim.

I could have sworn that the ones in the game did. I though that the sword spiders my mages summoned did, too. I'll check tonight. I have ToB, the official patch and the Baldurdash Fix Pack. If your configuration differs, we may both be right

Hust to add - I have never been poisoned by a Sword Spider yet, because they deal only melee damage. As for someone shapeshifted into Sword Spider or summoned ones.. Can't say, don't remember, never used these abilitites/spells. But the spiders as monsters in the game deal only melee damage.
