Can't cast elemental. During combat.

The problem is when i go into a combat situation and HAVE NOT CAST an elemental I get the message that I cannot control more then one elemental. In other words I have no other elementals under my control to my knowledge yet I am unable to cast an elemental. Is that clearer? Thanks again.

I have never seen that message, but there have been times when I could not cast summon elemental. From some other posts here, I gather it has to do with making sure that there is room for the elemental where you designate.

What happens to me is: I cast the spell, then the little ball on a stick shows up (like for fire ball and area spells). I can move it around but only close by. Then when I hit the left mouse button, I either get an "OK" response from the character which means that he will cast "summon elemental" when it is his turn -- or -- I get a sort of "beep" sound that implies that I cannot do that. Usually, if I move the ball around, I can find a spot where the elemental will fit and allow me to cast the spell. There are also times when I need to first click on level of spell (to force a small elemental) before it will allow me to place.

Sometimes there just is not any room and I cannot cast the spell at all.
