Just a simple question before I buy the game and it may make my previous question obsolete for me.
Can you change classes unlimitedly (is that even a word) like in W6 & W7? I have read many references to "ascension" and that reminds me of W&W where you can only be each elite class once and you can never be multiple basic classes. Just wondering. That will greatly affect my decision on how to play. Tanx. |

You can change classes unlimitedly, but the experience required to level doesn't reset to 0 (ie if your staring at another 50,000 exp pts to level from say 7 - 8, your level 1-2 in the new class will still take the 50,000 (maybe more maybe less, depending on whether you are switching to a stronger class). The benefits that you could get from chopping and changing in Wiz 7 simply aren't there in most cases. You need to get strong spell casters, bards, and gadgeteers up to like level 18 - 24 to take foull advantage of their potential.
I am expecting to do little or no multiclassing - maybe a little between rogue and bard at early stage, maybe taking a developed mage late in the game to psionist.

Well, now, that does drastically change things. I think it is a good idea for a change, but it does tend to change the way I play.
Thanks for the info. If anyone sees this for a follow-up question... If I had super cool characters from W7, with each character having spells from every spellbook, would those characters be reset at xp zero when you import then? I know those characters loose some stuff, but if I picked what I wanted them to be immediately after import, very much like I would with a brand new party, would that work? However, if an imported party comes in needing a bizillion xp's to go to the next level then that would defeat the point. Anyone notice which is the case with an imported party? Tanx. |

Hey dude,
First let me say that I have never played Wiz 7 or Wiz 8 ![]() 1) Some, but not all, cool items transfer 2) You get transported over as a level 1 character, with minimal stats, but have the option to allocate points for 5 automatic level ups. 3) You will lose all the cool "cross discipline" spells you used to know - magic users get to select their one spell per level up.
