Looking through the Ironworks site (Before I only visited Baldurs Gate areas) I have discovered this. Now is Dungeoncraft a game I can go out and Buy or can I download it (Moreimportantly does it cost anything?) A game that lets you build an RPG! such things we have long dreamed of. Any advice from the masters is welcome

Ok, here's a history & description:
Back in the mists of time (say around 1993) a company called Stategic Simulations Inc. released a series of games for the Amiga and the PC called Gold Box Games. These games were somewhat graphically (and very musically) challenged, but due to the fantastic story lines and the fact that you could make your own characters, they proved to be very popular indeed. Sometime after these games came out SSI decided that they would release the game creator for them, called: Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures (or FRUA). It was revolutionary at time (and still is) because it allowed people to create their own Gold Box games, with their own music, graphics, monsters, and maps. Now. The only problem with FRUA was that it had very limited resources to play with when it was released and so it limited what you could do with designs. This is where Richard Turner came in. He decided to write a Windows based updated version of FRUA with loads of extras and very few restrictions for nothing. How's that! The only thing he asks for is ideas & bug reports. You can join in the project (programming/artwork) if you think you can contribute by sending him an email. ------------------ Hey! Like RPGs? Reading a Forgotten Realms adventure book the other day. The Title was "Pool of Radience" and the back page had an advert for the game. Was this one of these goldbox games? Cos the Book was Ace.

Hey Evil_Twin
Yes, Pool of Radiance was the first novel in a series and it was a great book!! I have read many of the other forgotten realms novels and I have to say that the authors are very good and that the books are well worth reading. Cheers Warlock |

Pool of Radiance was the first Gold Box game from SSI. You can sometimes still find it in a collection of Gold Box game titles for cheap.

I bought a CD packed with all the gold box games. Unfortunately Pools of Radiance didn't work - the 1st character generated duplicated itself over the other 5
