Best Item

What do you think the best item in the game is. I thought it kinda was the ring of wizardry, but i dont really use mage spells unless i really need to (for example when i fight battle horrors), but anyway, anther good item I felt was the helm of balduran, even though it looks crappy, i did give like 5 or 10 extra hp, and an armour bonus.

If that list is in order, then I'd switch the +5 scimitar over the +3 scimitar. It grants an extra +2 to your AC. Does anyone know if it actually strikes as a +5 weapon? I've never checked in IEEP.

There are many magical items, and each has its own uses to certain characters. It may depend on your class, alignment, etc. For example, the helm of balduran is great for warriors, but the ring of wizadry is far better for a wizard. Personally, one of my favorite weapons in the game is The Long Sword +2. You may have noticed that BG1 heavily favors swords over any other weapon type.
Algernon's cloak is very cheesey and effective. I also love the Necklace of Missiles: I always have a fighter equip one (I can remember 2 of them in the game; one is at the nashkell circus and the other is somewhere in BG IIRC...I can't remember) and hurl a fireball into an attacking crowd.

My list was in no particular order, just whatever came to mind.But obviously the defender is far greater, not only in terms of the AC bonus, but also the attacking bonuses it has over the Frostband.

But, I got bored of listing out the items, because as you pointed out, many items are better for different classes.

But, I was never a great fan of the necklass of missiles though!

I would rather say that the best item is that scroll of major healing that saves you from death before another enemy's blow strikes you!

I'm pretty fond of the Bowl of Water Elelmental Control. You can wear it like a helmet and it regenerates your hitpoints. Of course, warriors can't wear it, but perhaps a F/MU dual class?

Still, a nice item to swap amongst the spellcasters to keep them from wasting potions.

I never knew you could do that! Is that from a mod?

Yes, is a mod that runs through the Tutu engine I believe..

I've never played it, but there were major regeneration problems through BG1! So must be Tutu or another BG2 interface.

But the item is definately from a mod!
