I'm running out of meanings for numbers
In any case, got a bit of gaming in last night (finally!). The peasants headed back to Ishad N'ha after finishing the Boogre Caves to collect their quest rewards -- the idol of Aku and Doshi-Gin. Sadly, they sold the Band of Boars for the cheap trinket it is... Periwinkle and Eljayess checked for more quests, and discovered that they could get the eye of the colanth quest... so they both signed up happily, and went on their way. All the fighters are level 4 now, so doublestrike is available... Periwinkle is the first one to learn it, lucky assassin that she is. Gruhntella and Sniffles will have to wait until their next level up... which should be soon. They leave town and Periwinkle checks to see if her portal is still working... the one right in front of the Brimloch Roon gates. Fortunately, it is, so they head into Dragon Spire from the other side and quickly make their way to the underground pool. Good news, bad news... the Colanth is there, down in the bottom of the pool. 'Course, the peasants can't hold their breaths for long, so... Hmmm... it's not coming up. Well, let's try to attack it... nope. It still stays there. This is inconvenient... and bummer, it's immune to spells that far underwater. At least, immune to peasant spells... Finally the peasants head over to the entrance you're *supposed* to use, and that triggers the Colanth to come up and attack. A few blows of sword and staff later, and it's fresh sushi time They run the eye back to Ishad N'ha, stopping along the way to battle mountain spiders, scoundrels, and trolls. Someone must have sprayed monster pheromones around here... they seem to be attracted to Erathsmedor's cave like moths to a flame. Soon enough, however, they get their rewards and head back towards Brimloch Roon. Ahhh... a new town, new guilds, and new quests... let's see what's happening. Sure enough, they get the Talrik's hook quest... that's easily done. And the Gineleng quest... looking good. Got the fountain of Isis quest... not going to try for the Mada Mabbig quest until we're ready. What??? No Strumbold's Helm quest with Argothius? Man, this reeks... well, let's leave anyway. What's this? There's no ship for sale?!???? This could really, really stink... But somehow, the ship is already there. It's been purchased, and they can leave to the enchanted sea area. Life is pretty good... on to Talrik! Sea sharks are fun to fight, have decent XP, and are very well suited for paraleep fighting. We like them... Crabs, however, are not fun to fight, and they don't seem to like Eljayess. Time and again, she's the target, and Flicker used up another couple of Rebirth scrolls on her. Still have just one crab shell, from the Cave Crab in the Stout Mines. Gotta find more... Gave the hooks to Talrik, got the quest for a longtooth hide, and ran around his area. Battled some raptors (more paraleep fighting!), then made our way over to Skull Island. Both warriors have now leveled up... they both need AGI and FOR to become barbarians, and Gruhntella is within 10 attribute points! I'm not sure if she's going to become a barbarian before Eljayess or Flicker becomes a warlock, but we'll see... Headed back to town finally, anticipating the leprechaun quest... but no!!! The rogues get the Talon's fang quest instead! Oh, the horror... they'll *NEVER* hit level 7 in any guild! *sigh* They found Argothius, and just like before, learned that he's apparently immune to peasant spells. Will this never end? And to top it off, as they start battling, a flock of dragonflies come by. Lemmetellya, six dragonbreaths in a row can really start taking its toll on... *thud* *sigh* Flicker...? Eljayess, please. Eventually, they beat them (the centaurs, Argothius, and the dragonflies) in combat, but it's a lot of fighting. A. Lot. Of. Annoying. Fighting. They finished the night camped in front of Skull Island, getting ready to do battle with the vampires. We'll see what happens next...

The ship was already purchased, you say? That was weird... Great chapter!

A free ship!!! Guess there are a few upsides to being peasants!!
Weird how the Colanth isn't triggered to rise unless you come in via the Ish N'hahahaha door. So why do you think they are not being offered some of the quests?? Stats/attributes too low?? Certainly makes the game more challenging.

I'm discovering all sorts of weird trigger things... the colanth, the floor in the boogre caves... some things that may be useful for the future
I have no idea what's caused all this. I may reset adventures on them when it's all done to see if the quests are still missing the second time around. It may have been an issue in how I reset adventures, or it may be an internal issue related to the pathetic stats. We'll see....

I also like the paraleep fighting. My group of Priests did it a lot. One thing that helps (for characters that are not Priests) is to have sleep darts.
Still weird about the ship and quests. Sounds like the reset adventures was not complete. How did you make the peasants anyway? The Editor that I have (I think I downloaded from this site) can not set the attributes lower than 2. [ 10-09-2006, 12:20 PM: Message edited by: Law ] |

I've never really experimented with darts... I just collect them and sell them off
I used an editor that I got a while ago. I don't remember if it's the one from here or not, but it does let me set the scores to zero. When I get back, I'll check which one it is. In DC today, and travelling the eastern seaboard this week. Back on Thursday night... so far...
