ok there is a door at the top of the stairs that will not open .. how do i get it to open please ?

The first door at the top of the stairs should open automatically as you approach. You encounter four undead ronin there. In the large room past them there is a lever on the wall that will load the "outside" and provide access to D'Soto's Tower.
