OK, any tips on how to do the final battle, hopefully with my party intact? My party comprises (all at max level (161000 xp)):

CG Elf Ranger
Minsc
Kivan
Imoen
Dynaheir
Yeslick

I got Imoen to drink a potion of invis, with the intent of disarming all the traps before I initiated the fight. But as soon as she spotted Sarevok a dialogue was initiated after which Semaj teleported to where my party was (near the entrance) and started dishing out some serious hurt! In particular he cast a fireball spell (centred on himself) and later on a cloudkill. He also cast chaos that affected Minsc & Kivan - as a result of me losing control of the two of them, Kivan died when he stayed too long in the cloudkill cloud.

Semaj appears to have tons of spells - he cast mirror image multiple times, after I had dispelled the previosu one. He also cast a protection (a pink cylinder) - what spell is that? Prot from normal missiles?

How do I protect myself against chaos? Will a greenstone amulet (Kivan has one) work? Potion of clarity? Helm of Balduran?

I noticed in the fight at the Duchal Palace that Sarevok is magic resistant. How do I take this resistance down?

Can the traps on the skull symbol on the floor be disarmed? Imoen tried to do it without success.

I am a HUGE fan of monster summoning. Anytime I have a battle that I just can't seem to win, I summon up some monsters. In this case, I summoned up monsters to keep the mages occupied while I range attacked. Then, with the mages out of the way, Sarevok isn't so hard to beat.

Wow, Hayashi, your party is almost exactly like mine was when I traveled BG1 ages ago! The only exceptions are 1) I was a half-elf rather than elf ranger and 2) I had Branwen instead of Kivan. As for the last battle this is what I did:

a) Drank all the useful potions I could, i.e., giant strength, heroism, haste, etc. -- no use hoarding them; use them!

b) Cast all the useful spells I could, i.e., bless, haste, aid, etc.;again, use them as you would potions. This is it!

c) Stay in the southeast corner! Draw your battle line there (that way you don't have to worry about disarming too many traps) and get ranged weapons ready, i.e., bows and slings. Use your most effective bullets and arrows.

d) Move Dynaheir up to where the conversation "almost" begins and have her cast a fireball spell (or any other area affect spell that can do damage) in the direction of your enemies and have her run back to your group A.S.A.P. and place her in the back. This should trigger them coming after you.

e)When Semja shows hit him with ranged weapons and I concur with Moot concerning Monster Summoning. Cast that spell as often as you can as well as undead summoning. Perhaps you have a wand of Monster Summoning. Often the enemies are tied up with them.

* One thing I remember vividly is that when I took out Savorak's underlings he came and concentrated solely on my PC and brought my character to 7 hit points. I'm not sure if every one's experience was like mine but I would quick slot as many healing potions as I could on your ranger. Have your healers ready, too. Keep wailing away and pause, pause, pause. You should make out fine.

I never had trouble with this battle with this little strategy, give your main tank the spider's bane, and the boots of speed. Have him move around the seal to the right slowly until Tazok says something. Then rejoin ur party at the bottom of the seal. TAzok will appear in front of you and may even get in a hit but just have everyone crush him. Now if you are strong enough you can just wait till the web or stinking cloud wears of over there on the right and just bum rush sarevok! I actually beat the game the 1st time I ever got to the end even though Ajantis who was in my party died. But if you dont want to do that simply walk back around the seal to the right and set sarevok off. Then head back to the rest of your party. Semaj will teleport in quickly smash him and then turn your attention to Sarevok, if you do it right Angelo doesnt even get in the fight. Im sure you have figured out that if you go to far right of the seal there are invisible stalkers waiting there in the corners so be careful.

Whew! Finally beat the game, as follows:

1. Invis'd Imoen, move forward to "discover" Sarevok & trigger the dialogue. In the meantime Yeslick & Dynaheir summon mosnters.

2. When Semaj appears in front of the party, my characters lay into him, my PC dispels his protection with arrows of dispelling. After his proetctions are gone, he's easy meat.

3. Move forward Dynaheir & Imoen, fire arrows of detonation & fireballs. When Sarevok advances they are caught in the stinking cloud & web.

Rest of the party advances & concentrates on Sarevok. Angelo bites the dust in the meantime, and soon Sarevok is history.

Man, that was a great story. Now it's on to Amn!

(Edit: Changed my mind. Torment can wait - the draw of Amn is too strong... )
