It seems that, after countless trecks through BG II with all sorts of heroes, I've wanted to create my own items...
Well, I've seen countless threads mentioning "IEEP" when Item Creation was mentioned. I figured it was a program for editing items, but I'm not so sure. So, I was just going to ask, if someone could give me a quick summary of Item creation/IEEP, and where I can find it to download? Oh, and before anyone says it, I'm not going to create god-almighty items. They're just for rolepaying [img]smile.gif[/img] |

DLTCEP is a little easier for me to edit items with at least, though you still need the .dat files from IEEP for the effect descriptions. A much easier to use interface.
(God almighty items can be fun at times, I've made a few. Items that have random-type effects are also fun, like the item has X number of propertiers and an X% of activating each.)

I tried googling IEEP, and with and without "Baldurs Gate 2" in it, to no avail... |

You don't really need all of it, just the effects files (you'll know them because they'll have the game they're for and 'effects' in their name) http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/dl.ph...g/dltcep67.rar That's the DLTCEP link. Once you install it, you just need to give it the directory of your BG2 chitin.key file and the effects file for BG2, and you're set to make items. Have fun

Lol. I know.
The program won't poof out (it didn't when I ran it the first time, at least), so you should hie and away on over to the Settings tab, then to change settings. You should be able to get it from there.

Well, I clicked on the "Settings" tab, clicked on "Change settings"" and went from there, changing what I could find to BG I. (Cause BG II mysteriously uninstalled itself. Damn me for not installing the patch!) Either way... after I clicked "Done" it said "You still haven't run setup. n00b" Just for the record, I'm paraphrasing.

I don't know much about the install/setup problem you're having but my copy of DLTCEP works pretty well. Maybe you should try reinstalling (duh, I'm sure you've already tried that).
You can use Shadowkeeper to extract the weapon files into your override folder if you want to see how the various items were constructed, or tweak them a little. I've used it to combine the features of ioun stones, or to merge several cloaks together, etc... things the purists would probably call powergaming, heh. One thing to be VERY careful of is that in DLTCEP it is easy to accidentally overwrite the item descriptions, since each description is linked to a particular dialog number. You want to make sure that you always create a new dialog number for any unique weapon descriptions so that you don't inadvertently end up with a particular ring having a modified description... not that anything like that ever happened to me [img]smile.gif[/img]
