Revenge spiders - what the hell???

THis is about the Solaufein mod.
You know you get attacked by the revenge spiders at one point. THey bite a charcter and give them a disease. In about five seconds you are dead. Doesn't take long for the whole party to be wiped out. Is there a way around this that does not involve cheat keys?

Step 1: buff, buff, buff and then buff some more. stoneskin, iron skin, bless, mirror image, potions, anything you have put it on

Step 2: summons. Preferably summon pets not affected by poison. The undead, your golem, elementals, devas. Keep your pets between you and the spiders.

Step 3: knock down their resistances. Slow, greater malison, lower magic resistance hold monster

Step 4: hit them with everything you have and I mean everything. Spells, +2 arrows, bolts of lightning, wands, anything that will make a dent in them.

If it's the first battle where the rest of your party is spirited away, then first get a little distance between you. Melf's Minute Meteors and Improved Haste always seem to work well for me against these critters.
