I wanted to start a new multisolo game and was wondering on which team is the best to create. I was thinking about that, just get the classes for the moment :

- Paladin
- Ranger/Priest
- Thief/Mage
- Priest/Mage

And so i've two slot for the NPC and their quests.

What do you think about that ?

as a average player who hasnt played bg2 for a couple of years.. i say that would be ok.. lack of tanks though since your cleric/ranger would be split on stats. my 2c.

oh yeah welcome to IW

Welcome Arfananwel! Your party is not bad, personally i'd drop the ranger/priest for a fighter/mage focused on defensive spells (stoneskin armour type spells etc) and maybe take a fighter/thief instead of the thief/mage. that way your party will be stronger on average with more tanking power when u need it and still a variety of magic.

Thx for the welcome !

I don't take too much "tank" (i'm french and really enjoy this expression for big bad guy with axes ) in my party cause I think there's enough NPC in the game fullfilling this purpose (minsc, valygar, korgan, keldorn, anomen,...).

It's sure that with 3 fighter in my team (Paladin, Fighter/Mage, Fighter/Thief), it will be ok with the HP of my party members, but i'm actually playing a solo game with a conjurer and he could do almost all the stuff alone so isn't the game a little bit more boring with many fighters ?

And without Druids spells, I can't summon those Fire Elemental (but I guess I can finish the game without them !)

Not yet, I`ve started many times SoA and never achieve to bypass the lvl 3 (fed up with my team twice, then delete by error my saves) so I'm don't find the use of installing ToB for the moment (am I wrong ??).

It might be a good idea to install TOB...

It raises the exp cap in SOA and once you complete SOA the game will continue directly onto TOB without you having to import your characters. This means you will keep exp, party members and items.

Also there is a neat function you can use that means when you hit tab containers are highlighted. This will work in SOA with TOB installed.

You're group looks good, arfananwel. The Ranger/Priest will provide good backup as a fighter and healer and the Priest/Mage class is one of the most powerful combo's in the game. I also like the Thief/Mage - who needs to Hide-in-Shadows when you can just turn Invisible and garuantee the guy you're about to Backstab won't see you (just be sure you equip your stabbing weapon before casting regular Invisibility, or you will cancel it when you switch weapons).

The only suggestion I would make is the lack of a druid - which you already mentioned yourself. If you want to take Jaheira, that solves the problem. She's a good tank and gets the ultimate mage-disruption spell (Insect Plague) very early in the game.

Personally, I've always thought Ranger/Druid should be a legitimate multi-class (it actually makes more sense from a roleplaying viewpoint). And I like the idea of a Ranger/Druid more than I do a Ranger/Priest. I think the ShadowKeeper engine will allow you to do this multi-class, but I'm not positive.

If you don't want to create your own druid, I would suggest taking Jaheira. If you do want access to those druid spells, you might try something really crazy like create a human beserker, then immediately dual him/her to druid at the beginning of the game. You'll have a bucketload of hitpoints plus some extra proficiency slots for those druid weapons you pick up (make sure you take as many proficiencies as possible in "club").

But not insect swarm, which would be the point of wanting the druid spells...
