NPC combos + tactics + favourite class (a little spoiler?)

NPC Combos

Just wondering if anyone has a party like mine
or what everybody else uses? and what lvl u will become by the end of BG2 (killing IRENICUS!!!) what u could possible get up to?
I think it is a pretty well balanced party with fighters and spellcasters
also GOOD characters which I like.

Favourite CLASS

Also my favourite CLASS combination is female human paladin lawful good which I always used to pick as me main character, something bout that that turns me on hehe

main character -
ELF FEMALE BARBARIAN lvl 21
Anomen fighter/cleric lvl 22
Jan Jansen mage/thief lvl 14/17
Nalia mage/thief lvl 18
Cernd shapeshifter lvl 16
Minsc ranger lvl 18

IMHO so 3 good fighters with big damage over 18 STR, MINSC at the back firing arrows with deadly accuracy, Cernd STR 21, Nalia STR 19 and Anomen 18/00 modified STR from STR belts!, Minsc STR 18/93 if I remember, barbarian 18/79 and druid/cleric/mage spells for healing, defensive and offensive spellcasting plus a very good thief Jan which no lock can ever keep him out of. PLUS backstab which I don't even have to use anymore....
the tactic to disable movement with 1 mage then area offensive spells!
I rage with me barbarian was told that it became immune to level drain as well as STR bonus!
so if anybody is having trouble kicking some1 out of a party I would recommend this combo but not everyone would agree....

I cast GATE spell right into the middle of Mind flayer attacking beholders in the underdark once! It was absolutely insane! but what a great skirmish!

I think you need to put some End Game Spoilers.
About the levels. It all depends on how many peolpe you got in the party,how many quests you did etc...

Wow, that's high level, I think I'm pretty screwed up then... My first time through my party levels were:

Me-
Hellzeth Stormbinder (Undead Hunter)- Level 16
Minsc- Level 16
Jaheira- Level 13/ Level 13
Aerie- Level 12/ Level 13
Anomen- Level 7/ Level 18
Imoen- Level 7?/ Level 17 (I think)

Yeah... Are those levels too low? Bah, I completed the game anyway, so what do I care .

Dadams1, your levels are actually pretty normal and in fact, on the high end of the usual average. Bear in mind that Jaheira and Aerie are multiclassed, so their levels look deceivingly low.

Getting Imoen to level 17 in her Mage class is already a commendable accomplishment, more so since you did not use ToB to achieve it.

I always try to have a central "theme" to my party. My first group consisted of -

Wizard Slayer (dualed to thief) - Chaotic Neutral (imported fighter from BG1)
Minsc
Keldorn
Jaheira
Imoen

I did the majority of NPC quests and the only NPC's that I did NOT allow to join the party at all were Viconia, Edwin, and Cernd. My Wizard Slayer was patterned after my favorite PnP character - Cerek, a barbarian created using Unearthed Arcana. Given the general distrust of mages that barbarians were supposed to have, Wizard Slayer seemed like the perfect class for him. He also liked Rangers because they had similar skills to him, so that's why I chose Minsc. Keldorn impressed him with his fighting prowess and he had emotional attachments to Jaheira and Imoen from BG1. He also HATES Edwin and killed him in BG1 AND BG2. He has no use for drow and I just didn't need Cernd.

Other groups I am either playing now or planning are -

Viconia
Edwin
Jaheira (for the multiple romance option - what can I say, he is very self-centered and shallow)
Yoshimo (whom he views as a somewhat "kindred spirit" - although he is suspicious at how Yoshimo conveniently showed up in Chateau Irenicus)

Thought about taking Valen, who would fit well with this group, but I wanted the Thieve's Guild, so I sided against Bodhi. Guess that screws my chances for Valen, although I'll still take her if I get the chance.

{Demi-Human Party}
Jacah Flamehair - Elven ranger (currently working his way through BG1}
He will probably team up with -
Aerie
Haer'Dalis
Mazzy
Jan
and possibly Solufein (although he will have a hard time overcoming his inbred hatred of drow)

Viconia will not be in the party, but he probably won't let her be killed by the townsfolk either.

Jaheira and Minsc are possibilities due to emotional attachment from BG1, plus Jaheira fits the party "theme".

Kasana Sage - female Kensai. Will dual to mage after level 13
Probable teammates -

Nalia (to be replaced by Imoen - Can't leave my sister out of the party)
Anomen (it will be fun for him to be outnumbered for a change)
