I just started BGII the movie was great, after it plays the game stops and crashes to windows. If I press escape to get through the movie it freezes all together. My system meets all the requirements and I have uninstalled IWD just to make sure it was space.

What is going on, did anyone else have this problem?

Hmm...I had this happen once, but it was after a game sequence, not a movie. I had to reinstall (I know, argh!) the game to make sure everything was there. If u are good with game management, look around the data link files that code searches files together. Otherwise, have patience for the reinstall.

Before getting so drastic with re-installing, try to download BioWare's Official Patch, and then the Baldurdash Fixpack.

Also, if it's the movies that are causing the problem, you can disable them by putting the following line in the Baldur.ini file under the [Game Options] area:

DISABLE MOVIES=1

then restart the game. You'll miss the movies, but so many of them are just eye candy anyway.

Sazerac, does that work in BG1 as well? I'm playing on a corrupted set of discs right now (I mailed my retail set to a friend in California), and the Gnoll Stronghold movie never fails to crash my game.

Bioware didn't allow you to skip the stupid cut-scene videos in BG1. And my game always crashed at that point, so I'm not so sure it's the disks.

I think there's a workaround for that, but I've forgotten what it is. I know I just recently saw one. Possibly at the BG1 forum here? Anyway, if I find it, I'll post it for you.

Well I managed to get it to work in a 800X600 window no problem. However I don't really want to play in a window isn't there away to switch from window to full screen?

DISABLE MOVIES=1 did not seem to stop the intro movie from playing.

It is all good everyone I finally got it working with a little help from everyone here. Whatever the problem is has to do with the jump from the intro movie to the start menu. Anyway the patch helps but whatever is different about my system I need to start it in a windows mode to get through the movie. After that I immediately switch to windows by going into options, graphics and then selecting the full screen/ windows option. A little annoying but I am happy and had quite a chuckle with my first Minsc encounter.

Because it is not DISABLE MOVIES=1, but Disable Movies=1. Important difference.

I had sumthing similar to that happen as well in the first in game cut sequence/movie thing it actually depended on how my character was imported from bg1, it seemed that if i use the final save it wouldnt work but if i used the exported character it worked just fine, go figure?
