2 articles one regarding Jesus Tomb? What you guys think about it? I am not sure if this considers a break on religion ban

Quote:
A DISCOVERY to turn Christianity upside down, a real-life Da Vinci Code revelation, or a brilliant publicity stunt?
-
Archaeologists and religious scholars yesterday opted for the third interpretation for claims that a crypt uncovered decades ago in Jerusalem contained the bones of Jesus Christ, his wife and his son.
-
A documentary, The Burial Cave of Jesus, by the US Discovery Channel, says the crypt contains coffins with residue of the remains of Jesus and Mary Magdalene and their son, Judah.
-
The documentary was produced by James Cameron, who made the Hollywood films Titanic and The Terminator, and who was yesterday accused of trying to "terminate" Jesus.
-
According to the Bible, Jesus was resurrected on the third day after he was crucified and 40 days later ascended to heaven.
-
In 1980, construction workers accidentally uncovered the crypt, with 10 stone coffins, six of which had inscriptions.
-
Archaeologists have reportedly deciphered the names on the tombs, including Yeshua (Hebrew for Jesus) son of Joseph, Mary, Mary and Judah, son of Yeshua. In New York yesterday, Cameron unveiled two of the coffins he claims belonged to Jesus and Mary Magdalene. "I think this is the biggest archaeological story of the century," he said.
-
"It is absolutely not a publicity stunt."
-
His team carried out DNA analysis as well as statistical analysis of the inscriptions.
-
There is no record in the Bible that Jesus married or had children, but the claim was made in some ancient texts known as apocryphal gospels and was the foundation of Dan Brown's best-selling novel, The Da Vinci Code, which claims the Catholic church covered up knowledge of this for centuries.
-
The documentary's claims are reminiscent of those made in 2002 that an ancient ossuary — or receptacle — contained the bones of Jesus' brother, James. It was later shown that the inscription was a forgery and four antiquities dealers and collectors were charged.
-
Leading Israeli archaeologist Amos Kloner, who oversaw work at the tomb, has dismissed the new claims as nonsense.
-
Other archaeologists around the world were dismissive. Some expressed excitement; all wanted more information.
-
Dr Shimon Gibson, a fellow discoverer of the tomb, said he was sceptical that the tomb belonged to Jesus' family but the claims deserved investigation.
-
If it possibly could be proved incontrovertibly that the ossuary contained Jesus' remains, it would provide a theological conundrum for orthodox Christians.
-
"It's pretty bizarre," said Melbourne Catholic New Testament lecturer Brendan Byrne. Father Byrne noted that the Bible said Jesus was buried in Joseph of Arimathea's tomb. "If they found bones, it would be problematic, because it would suggest Jesus didn't rise physically from the dead."
-
"But Jesus and Joseph and Miriam and Judah are four of the most common names of the time. To assert that this group of names is the family of Jesus is a very remote possibility."
-
Church historian Andrew McGowan, warden of Trinity College at Melbourne University, said if the claims could be proved, some Christians would give up their faith. He said the claim said more about modern society than archaeology because ideas about Jesus' tomb mirrored religious sensibilities.
-
Dr McGowan noted that the Roman Emperor Constantine's mother built the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, but 19th-century British General Charles Gordon encouraged pilgrims to visit an alternative site, the garden tomb, "because he hated all the foreigners and smoke and incense at Holy Sepulchre and wanted a muscular Victorian Christianity".
-
"Now we have the quasi-scientific version, using terms like DNA analysis and statistics and probability.
-
"It's the myth-making of science that it can close the gaps. In fact, science can't do that and neither can anything else."

It would sure break the foundations of christians and catholics faiths

And the other is the Stock market plunge. Australia just lost 35billion in trade so they say. I hope no one was badly effected by it.

Quote:
Chinese authorities may have doused tax rumours that triggered a global share rout over the past 24 hours, but it was not enough to mend the damage to Australia's share market.
-
Despite recovering some ground from the 3.5 per cent plunge this morning, the All Ordinaries and ASX 200 were still 2.6 per cent lower at 3.55pm.
-
This equates to a market loss of around $35 billion in Australia, and much more worldwide in what has been the market's worst day since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
-
Chinese regulators today denied rumours of plans for a 20 per cent capital gains tax on stock investments as share prices recovered modestly this afternoon following their worst plunge in a decade.

I'm going to stay away from the Jesus tomb thing entirely.

As for the Australia bit, I think it entirely outlines why our current economic model is hilariously broken. RUMOURS cause about as much damage to the stock market as the worst terrorist attack to date. Consider that, if that isn't the definition of broken and exploitable, I don't know what is.

Shh, young grasshopper, the world is full of cajoling publicists, and stardom seekers.

Rumors on the stock exchange have no effect on the stock market. Remember the monies of the world are controlled by a select few elitist, if they say up, it climbs. If they say hold, it stabilizes. If they say down, they want a new toy!
