Come on: you may like listening to that score from IWD or BG2 a few times, but after a while it grows almost as old as that bare-butt picture your folks took of you when you were teething and which they'll sell you negatives of to support their retirement. You have to listen to something else, so...what do you listen to, when you're playing, to help keep in the mood?

Godspeed You Black Emperor!
And the first one to mistake that with any kind of metal, should be ashamed; it's instrumental avant-gardistic hypnotizing and incredibly beautiful music, and perfect and relaxing for when you're playing BG2.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the song 'Lost You Somewhere' by a group called 'Chicane' is just about the best song you'll ever find as background music. It is especially good for playing Baldur's Gate

A friend of mine cobbled together this compilation of famous film soundtracks and other likely tunes. There's the Babylon 5 theme, 'The Battle' from 'Gladiator', some music from 'The Rock', 'Amon Hen' from 'Fellowship of the Ring', 'Duel of the Fates' from 'Star Wars: Episode 1', 'The Warriors' from Michel Flatley's Lord of the Dance, the theme music to Star Trek: First Contact (also known as 'Jupiter' from The Planets), the theme from 'Starship Troopers'... lots of things. It's the best roleplaying tape I've found. Shame it's not commercially available, but I would say orchestral film soundtracks are pretty good in general.

I usually have Final Fantasy music playing too. Or a band like Blink 182, or some rap. Depends on the mood I guess.
