Lucasarts Classics.

Games like:

Monkey Island 1
Monkey Island 2
Day of the Tentacle
Sam & Max

Has Lucasarts re-released these games under a "classic" range? (That is, for XP install, not DOS *shudders*)

Does anyone know where I can buy these games new?

Thanks.

I saw Sam and max and Dott in a "classics" pack with The Dig and Full Throttle a Gmes store
and I think you can get the first 3 Monkey Island games (and best, 4 was awful) together in a bundle.

I have Monkey Island 1&2 in something called 'The White Label Double Pack' and those works under Windows, or at least under Win98. I haven't tried them in WinXP, but you don't install the games per se, only the sound config file and the save games ends up on the hard drive.

I've also seen Day of the Tentacle in a double pack with another game fairly recently.

AFAIK there's no re-release made for XP, but if you have the old originals or buy them in a budget pack you can use ScummVM ().
It's an emulator especially made for games based on the SCUMM engine (i.e. old Lucasfilm/LucasArts games)

The windows remakes should work under winXP with no problem.

But AFAIK there is no remake of DoTT, for reasons best known to lucasarts.

It should be possible to make the original DoTT work with DosBox.

Those are great games, I've played the entire Monkey Island series over the years. Jorath, why did you not like the 4th one? Was it the Monkey talk stuff LOL?

I also played Day of the Tentacle (as well as all the Maniac Mansions), loved all of them! Man that was so long ago LOL. I remember that was when I had a game of The Labyrinth on the Commodore 54, but I never was able to finish it, got stuck at the castle with these rocks LOL.

I miss games not so complicated, and with humor.

Ah... remember Day of the Tentacle. I was no good at english back then, so "playing" DotT would be walking around clicking on things 'till a dialogue started, then ask my brother what to click

Yeah, I was hugely into those games when I was about 13-14. My Younger sister was about 5 or 6 at the time, and she was constantly asking me how to solve the puzzles. It got to the point where I just couldnt be bothered giving her the answers so i just told if she couldnt figure them out herself she wasnt old enough to play them. Of course, as little sisters do, she cried and told mum
