Is this idea as crazy as it sounds? After reading some feed back I don't think the idea is that bad. I mean if I were homeless I could probably do with a nice cold beer to relax. As long as they are not giving it out to people who smell like alcohol and are problem alcoholics I don't see a problem. The idea is still strange to me however.

Thoughts?

Beer ? They need a roof over their heads, not beer. They should give it to me instead.

how suprising that johnny is the first poster to a post which has the word "beer" in its title

in my opinion these people should take it as their first priority to get a job and a home of some kind, then the pleasures of life(beer for instance).

What? Beer or the fact that they are homeless?

The thing is I think these guys are for real. I thought it was meant to be a joke at first as well but now I am not so sure. They are located in Tennesse.

Proverbs 31: 6-7 "Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish; let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more."

A nice cold beer does give some pleasure and allow you to relaxe for 10 or 15 minutes from a hard days work.

How about food or money? A simple $1 or a chicken drumstick and they'll give you the biggest smile in the whole world.

Not that I don't think everyone deserves a cold beer or two. The homeless and those responsible for their charity have more important things to worry about. Mental illness, alchoholism and drug use are major factors in homeless cases. Providing a home address in a community style barracks, simple nourishing food, and stable employment, rather than beer, would be a good first step for those wishing to better the lives of the homeless. What surprises me is the number of homeless who have little or no desire to change their lifestyle (from my trip to Wash. D.C.).

So if you're poor and down on your luck, you don't deserve a little enjoyment every now and again?

I've been unemployed for 6 months - I have no income. When my friends visit me, they bring me wine, beer, chocolate or cigarettes - not a bagful of cabbage. And I'm bloody grateful for that! I don't get those things otherwise, I certainly can't buy them for myself! Sometimes having a beer or a bar of chocolate provided by a mate can make the day worth living, when previously it seemed bleak.
