Sorry - not an altogether clear indication of what this thread is about really - is there?
Suffice to say that some things need to be forced to the surface, and if someone is going to take the piss (which they will do eventually) I wish they would just come right out and get it over with .

It's bad when an Aussie thread is too ethnocentric for one's fellow Aussies . I am expecting a few Brits to know what I am alluding to, but it may take them a little research time. Perhaps the odd Kiwi or two could assist my befuddled countrymen

I have to admit to surprise that our good pal Donut (Google master extrordinaire) and his sharp brother Lanesra have failed to take us Aussies to task for our deplorable sportsmanship and / or lack of sporting prowess on the weekend.
Let's face it - the mighty Socceroos - the team that humbled England not that long ago in the battle of Upton Park (Davros still hears Lanesra's echo's of "friendly, friendly") got embarassed - nay "pantsed" on the weekend when they only managed a 2-2 draw IN A WORLD CUP QUALIFIER (no less) against the mighty minnows of the Solomon Islands. The last time that we went through this stage of the world cup qualifiers we were beating teams by world cup record scores like 31-0. I in fact sat next to Lanesra back in 2001 (Arsenal was playin Leeds) when some playful lout in the crowd suggested to Harry Kewell the very words that form the title of this thread. It is indeed "not 36-0 now Skippy" (the reference being to Aussies and not Skippy1 in particular ) and the question is are we really crap all of a sudden, or was it a repeat of the Trevor Chappell underarm delivery to the poor ole Kiwis (well - I have to admit that last one is worth a chortle ). Is this what Aussie soccer is about - lying down to teams like the Solomon Islands to eliminate their main opposition (New Zealand) from the World Cup?
