I have a .wmv file made from a VHS tape of home movies that I would like to put on CD. I no longer have the software or equipment used to make the file, and I would like to keep the video but I don't want it permanently on my HD.

I need some free/shareware that will allow me to edit .wmv files. Nothing fancy needed really, in fact the simpler the better, just something that will let me cut a 1.2gig file into two separate videos.

Help Please!

Google turned up this:

If you read the reviews theres something about a virus in the installer, Im not sure if thats just some halfwit posting crap to cause trouble, or a genuine warning. Scan it before installing, but you knew that anyway.

THanks for the help guys!

Andrewas, I also found that stoik converter through a search, and it seems to be pretty good, but it wouldn't work with my file. I hope it isn't corrupt in some way.

Mouse, that looks interesting. I'll be giving it a try soon.

Thanks Again!

If the problem hasn't been solved yet I use Cleaner at work to compress video, took a 74MB file down to 978KB in a few minutes, try http://www.discreet.com/index-nf.html there may be a trial version you can get to help you out.
