Safe haven, i thought..

------------------
In the foul darkness one figure will emerge to save the world from evil and despair.... Light flashes as his sword comes down, and thunder rolls through the sky when he points his sword up to heaven to signal his victory....People whisper his name as he walks by, evil tries to hide as they sense his presence nearby.... His name? Link......

I guess they're just to add a bit more interest to the class that you play, and welcome to the board too

Plus they're a good place to store stuff you don't want to carry around with you...

Plus you get some minor quests (and for some even money or items) from them which can be fun.

The Mage stronghold will not earn you money but if youplay it right you get some decent items plus XP

Oh, and the cleric stronghold gives you no money either I believe (at least not in my game)

Yea the strongholds are something put in to play upon what ever character is your main one. Each one has a certain quest/stronghold that is tailored to that specific character. You can only have 1 stronghold quest in the game, that is based on your main characters class.
Each stronghold is different. Some you can get unique items from, most you get experience from, some you get gold from.
They are not really important, but depending on who you play, some can be very profitable. I think the mage or the ranger strongholds are the best in the game. Both of these you can get unique items from.
