What would you do on linux?
I really hate it, but at university we only get that for it costs them less.

The problem is that you don't have a player for .wmv files installed. Probably the admin decided not to install one so that students would have one less distraction.

If you want to play the video, you will need to find a player for linux. And without admin privileges you wont be able to install it, although linux has a far lower dependency on windows-style installation routines, so you may be able to make it work. Depends on how the system is organised really. And if your HDD quota will stretch to the player software.

Everyone has 50 megs hard drive quota here, and I can install programs, so if you can point me to something I would be thankful.

50Mbs quota and install privliges? I went to the wrong uni. We had 6Mbs and restricted user-level priviliges. And that was on the compsci computers, general use was even worse.

Anyway, a brief search turned up:

Which looks like it'll do what you need.
