It infected my PC with three different parts.
The connection to the web browser, the Readme file, and a temp file called We611, or something like that.

I think I may have received this twice in the last 36 hours. (Not completely sure if it was this one). I deleted the mail both times without opening. Guess that should have taken care of the problem?

All my access to international (non-Australia sites is very slow) at the moment. Here's an excerpt from an email sent by my ISP:

Dear Telstra BigPond(TM) member,

Telstra is alerting you to be wary of a fast-spreading worm. All Internet
users, including BigPond members, may experience delays when surfing
affected Web sites due to increased Internet traffic.

Telstra emphasises that the worm has not originated in its network. Nor is
Telstra responsible for the spreading of this worm on any of its
telecommunications networks.

The worm, called W32.Nimda, appears as a blank message with an attachment
called 'readme.exe' or 'admin.dll'.

Nimda spreads through email and searches for shared network drives, seeking
unpatched or vulnerable Microsoft Web servers (IIS or Internet Information
Services), overloading them with Internet traffic.

The worm harvests email addresses from address books and sends itself to
all addresses as an attachment called readme.exe or admin.dll.

Please delete any emails you receive with the readme.exe or admin.dll
attachments and update your virus definitions to ensure that your system is
protected.

Of course, this could just be an excuse for their crap service...

Some tricks to kill a ugly worm called Nimda..

- Install IE 6 with new Outlook express.
- For 5 and 5.5 IE users, upgrade to 5.02sp2 and 5.5sp2- Patch can be found at Microsofts homepage.
- Don´t autoopen mails. There is somewhere you can change that in OUtlook. HAve a updated virusscan program that is updated against Nimda, that checks mails when you receive mails!

Never accepts mails from people you don´t know, or that looks suspicious.

Find virus makers and ********* ****** ***** ***their ****** ***** ******** so they can´t*********** GRRRRRRR!!!! ******* ***** ** ****!!!!!

OKI, just a bit annoyed over low lifes as Ladywendy said so well!!
