I have to say, this forum is doing very well for such an old game. In the Icewind Dale forum there is little or no activity, and it is more recent than W & W. So what does this mean?????
WIZARDS & WARRIORS KICKS ASS!!!!! Just my two cents worth..... Moiraine Sedai

I would tend to agree. I played this game a lot when I first got it many years ago. I just started playing it again, and I am glad i did, its awesome!

Welcome to the board Trialos.
Moiraine, I am still amazed at the numbers of new posters we get in here. I think we're doing much better that, oh say the BG 1 forum. Why? Because we're better at everything. There's no tech, or best tip thread as ours. We have it all and we have a great game to talk about. One that still can compete with the newest. |

Glitz and glamour may bring 'em in the door, but a good flexible storyline keeps 'em here. And the great fun we have here as well...
The Wiz8 forum copied our Best Tips thread idea, but hasn't moved up to do the Tech Tips thread. We're just innovators beyond our time...

I just got a book on the 80:20 and what do you know, the rule applies to movies and I would say confidently, to games too. So if we took the movie model as a reasonable example, 1.3 % of movies in a given release period will generate 80 % of the revenue - the best games are going to be light-years ahead of anything else on the market, and, surprise, surprise, they survive the test of time. I have been playing "computer games" since they were first invented, and WAW is one of those games. The interest is a natural response to this. QED???

Oh yeah, PS and all that.
WAW is on the KMart shelf in Australia for $15 AUS. That's cheap, cheap, CHEAP! Expect more posts folks! |

actually the cost doesnt matter, as long as the game is worth playing for AT LEAST a few months or so...... (mine went for abt a year! )

Let us summarize:
W&W belongs to the best CRPGs ever seen, like TES Arena, MM6 or MM7. Even if it is full of bugs, even if it was left unfinished (note bags of "dead ends" in the game, like targetable items that do nothing, the alignment stat, the "uncompromised wrath" of the Mavin, and so on and so on), it is still one of the best games. It's because it goes in the right direction. It tells the player "invent something!" instead of leaving him with a single solution (or a few of them). In the other words, an intellectual entertainment. What a pity the project weren't finished! What a pity the project weren't continued!
