Police save goldfish from blender-art exhibit
COPENHAGEN (Reuters) -- Police on Friday removed from an exhibition a work of art with goldfish as the focal point after an animal rights group complained that the fish were in peril.

The creation by artist Marco Evaristti consisted of goldfish swimming inside regular kitchen-blenders. Exhibition visitors could switch on a blender, transforming the content to fish soup, the Ritzau news agency reported.

Police decided to remove the item after consulting the local veterinarian in the Danish town of Kolding.

is this art or disturbing?

here's the picture

It COULD be art if Marco Evaristi would put his hand in the blender, and guests would be allowed to turn it on.

Killing goldfish in a blender isn't art, it's sadistic psychopatic behaviour.

Personally, I prefer Impressionism. I don't particularly mind non-conventional art, but IMHO, Art shouldn't involve killing things. I have to vote disturbing - same for the mice fingergloves in the first thread.

Here's a funny one. Credit for this story goes to my friend in the visual arts degree program at the University of Victoria. They had a year-end project due aimed at provoking commentary from others in the faculty. One of her classmates made forty clay models of uteruses (uteri?), about six inches tall, in various colours. She attached them to sinks, urinals, desks, etc. after school, so that people could see them the following morning. Anyway, the custodian came around that evening and threw them all out. The uterus-maker had to scramble around in garbage cans to retrieve her project.

An ironic and practical commentary on artistic worth?

A goldfish in a blender isn't art. Now, slurping down 12 goldfish after doing 4 beer bongs whilst having your fraternity brothers smack your naked body with rubber snakes -- THAT'S ART.

Art? Give me a break. Goldfish in a blender, how exciting! Morons... I mean, if that is considered art, then I could make a lot of money, hey we all could. Howabout electrical wires shocking flies? Whoohoo! Oh the entertainment and fame!

Poor fish, that is not art at all, it's animal cruelty...I mean if he used fake fish, that would be alright, but real fish, nuh-uh.

Not that I approve, but we do far worse things to animals. Just think of the whole Bio industry.

First of all: that was no art.
