MooT - the game about the origin of words in the English language. even gives you a chance to try out a few words to see how well you'd do. That game's guaranteed to increase your vocabulary - even if you lose. Especially if you lose.

ahh that's a rather interesting game. They should get school's to buy it so it helps students with their english.

Might be interesting for other languages as well. You could really learn something about the origin of words that way.
