Baldurs Gate 2, Planescape: Torment, Neverwinter Nights, Icewind Dale 1&2. All D&D.

Don't forget BG1 and the TOTSC expansion! You can also throw Diablo and the Fallout series in there. Fallout is a turn based game and Diablo is more hack 'n' slash.

Get Baldurs Gate 2, if you aint already, its the winner...Planespace Torment is also mint, especially as its less of a hack n slash and more plot driven...If you dont mind the turn based try Fallout 1 and 2 <---fallouts need a couple of hours to get into as they both begin pretty dull...but once they get going have the best replay value IMHO

The ones mentioned by previous posters are good, although I'm not sure I'd personally suggest Neverwinter Nights. I didn't like it too much, but I suppose it gets better if you can find a decent user-made module to play through. The built-in singple-player's pretty bad, though.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was quite good... Not D&D, but it does use Star Wars d20 rules (mostly, anyway... probably with about as much faithfulness as BG2 uses basic 2ed AD&D rules, or a bit more).

Some other good non-D&D RPGs are Summoner, Morrowind, and Gothic 2.

There's also a few games coming out in the future that look promising... whenever they get out, I'd suggest taking a look at Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines (Half Life 2 engine, but it's an RPG using the Vampire the Masquerade RPG rules), Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (not an RPG, but who can resist Cthulhu?), and The Witcher (dark fantasy RPG based a set of Polish fantasy novels, using the NWN engine).

I favour the Icewind Dale offerings. Party-based adventuring with lots of tactics. It's not another Baldur's Gate though, so don't expect much plot to get in the way of the fighting.

Tales of the Sword Coast, if you don't have it; BG2, but not Throne of Bhaal; Wizards&Warriors; Morrowind with Tribunal and Bloodmoon; NWN with Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark; Icewind Dale 2 (never played the first one); I feel like I'm missing something.. oh, and Fallout 1&2.

Sacred is pretty good as far as superficial, minimal-dialogue, hack-n-slash fests go. I personally find the gameplay a little dry, and the characters uninspired and trite, but it has gotten many good reviews from other players so I guess I'm in the weirdo minority here.

hmm... sacred.. wierd.. i dunno.. pretty unrealistic when a town is surrounded with monsters left and right yet still alive and kicking with no guards to defend them.
