Hard to say.
Intel is leading the charge on BTX, and although AMD doesn't want to move to BTX, I think we both know that Intel gets what Intel wants. It is possible that some BTX boards may provide legacy support for PCI 2.1 and DDR, but the majority will be DDR2, PCI-X, and PCI-X for graphics. I would imagine that SATA would replace IDE, but then again, at this point it's hard to say. I do know that both nVidia and ATI have developed graphics cards for the PCI-X bus, so you can bet that the AGP slot will be history, and SATA drives have been around for some time. Check these out for some more info. http://www6.tomshardware.com/motherb...erwood-01.html http://www.moddin.net/forum/topic.as...26&whichpage=1 [ 07-11-2004, 01:21 AM: Message edited by: Animal ]

I have decided to go for the new mobo. But heck, I don't know how to workaround the Windows XP problem I will face... I don't have a spare HD (or don't know yet how to backup).
Here's the link to the mobo I chose: http://www.villman.com/products/spec...ef=ecs/pf1.asp What do you think? |

ECS? ECS is known for its average yet cheap mobo.. why not get ASUS? or your willing to save what you have left to wait for the BTX boards?
and i do suggest complete reinstallation of your windows rather than trying to figure out what went wrong here and there.

Well I am still thinking about it... but ASUS is well ASUS and too much.
As for the BTX boards... well I think that they won't be awfully popular until next year... and once I get my hands on a decent mobo for this setup I will be pretty content. You get what I mean? I'll probably get those without the Firewire, save those extra sweet things for the BIGGER upgrade. What do you think about that? |
