Well The Olypics will be coming up pretty soon. What Feb 8th or somthing?

I dont really follow any sports in the winter olypics besides Hockey. So I am going to talk about that, hehe.

Who hs the most solid shot at the gold? Well

The lost time America won it was in 1980, in the remerable, legendary, almost mythical olypics when they beat Russia and Germany. That, as you may recall was the last time the WO (Winter Olypics) was hosted on American soil (Or should I say Ice,hehe). And this year its hosted in America. As for the players. Well, its pretty much the same team as it always was. But without Derrian Hatcher (Dallas)

Canada has a soild shot, as always. But I think they replaced Stevens (NK) with Jovinoski (Vancover) (Again)

Sweeden, hmm. I dont know, they arent going to have Peter Forsberg(Colorado). Fredik Modin (Tampa Bay) might start to shine this year though. He is, what, 5th in scoring in the NHL? Tommy Salo (Edm.) is looking pretty good though.

Finnland. This may be there year. Despite the loss of Saku Koivu(Montreal), I just have a feeling they might go the whole 9 yards. Sami Kapanen (Carolina) is 3rd in scoring. And the always entertaining, and one of my personal favorites, Temmu Sealanne (San Jose) is having a break out year.

Russia, although one of my favorite countrys, I just dont think they have what it takes this year. I am not that farmillar with there players, I know Sergei Brylin(NJ) is doing OK. Oh, Alexei Yashin(New York Islanders), how could I forget, Well during the first part of the season NYI wear rockin it. They seemed to slow down. And what about the Evgenni Nabokov (SJ) thing. Should he be aloud to play for Russia?

Czech Rep. The defending Champs, I think they are going to have another good go at it. Patrick Elias (NJ) leads his team in scoring, not that thats a big acomplishment though, hehe. ALong with linemate Petr Sykora, they always make a good team. Domonik Hasek (Detorit) is rocking it as always. Gumby on Ice! hehe Who else, Petr Nedved(New York Rangers) and that other dude that plays with him, whats his name Malhortoah? I dont think thats him, but whatever. No it was Robert Reichel, , thats who I am thinking of. They have a ton of good players and a deep roster.

Now for the not so known countrys to do well.

Germany. I think they might get past the primlarary round. Marco Sturm (SJ) Jochen Hecht (St. Louis) Olaf Kolzig (Wash.) Alot of good players. Oh another thing, this may be the second time in Winter Olympic History that 2 brothers of diffrent countrys are going to play each other. Martin Riechel repersent Germany, if he gets picked, and will go up agaisnt (possiably) his brother Robert. Last time that happened was 1960 when Czech-born brothers Frantisek and Zdenek Tikal played. With Zdenek representided....Austriala???

Solovaika, I think they might do well. Ziggy Palffy (LA)is lighten it up. As well as Pavol Demtria (STL). Two scoring machines right there. They have some other players too. Miro Satan comes to mind.

Yes, we have snow, ski slopes etc. Not as crazy as a Jamaican bobsled team.

I hate to admit it but I don't think that Canada will get the gold this year (not that I'll be dissapointed if they do). The problem with the team is that it was built politacally. We put people in that clearly didn't deserve to be in. We put them in because they did look good, they came from good franchise and the fans like them.

For exemple, Igilna wasn't in until about 3 weeks ago until someone else got injured (at least, he's in). But why wasn't he in before when he was (and still is) the NHL top scorer? The same goes for our goalies. Well Patrick Roy can't make it (he's got good reasons) so who do we pick? Cujo, Brodeur and Belfour. Ironic that we didn't even select our second best canadian goalie: Jose Theodore in MTL.

It's too bad but that's the way it is.

Be positive. We've got a chance of a medal in the curling and also in the alpine slalom and snowboarding.

I think you have to go with the hot goaltender...and much like Hasek was so key to the Czech team last time around, I like the chances of the Russian side with Khabibulin. He is peaking just at the right time...

Value for money...Sweden are listed as being 6/1 to win the gold.

What about the event they're brining back? The Skeleton Take one Luge sled, lay on it head first(instead of feet first), use the bobsled course(steeper than the luge cours) and one crazy athlete.

I think this is going to be great, Head First down the mountain on a thin piece of metal, It doesn't get any better than that.

Curling!?!, dont you mean smoking butts and drinking rum and cokes...nope sorry...Canada wins. hehehe

Ok with Hockey. Ryanamur while i agree that Theodores stats are impressive and he has played a great year...i wouldnt pick him on the grounds of experience and pressure games. That being said you might as well count Joseph out to cause he hasnt won any big games that i know of except some playoff wins.

Roy was the man for the job...Gretzky or Lowe or whoever should have just said...Roy...you the man for the job.

Khabibulin good, Hasek good...Salo good. Sweden huh...well they do have a good team...Naslund the bomb! And Ohlund to! (yaya Canucks!)

I think its pretty much a toss up between Sweden, Canada, Russia, and Czech Republic for gold. But its sports...who knows what the final outcome will be. But its going to be a lot of fun finding out!
