Furhter to Spirit's comment, the Mothman is supposed to be a spiritual being which appears before people and is a herald to some sort of disaster or bad event. People have supposedly likened the being to a fallen angel, warning of bad events before they happen, with just its presence.

There was a Richard Gere movie about it which i've not seen. I don't know whehter the Mothman is just something which the movie has popularised in the same way that the Blair Witch and Donnie Darko movies popularised other phenomena, or whether the Mothman is older than that.

La chupacabras too is supposed to have much more of a spiritual significance to it. (If i'm not mistaking it with "El" chupacabras...) Supposedly a small demon creature with a fondness of creating all sorts of evil mischief.

Then, we're still poisoning our planet, detonating nukes, starving our people even killing our people. I'd imagine it's like watching kids in a schoolyard from afar; You can't approach them until they understand the implications. Just one of the many theories running 'round my head.
That would be on the assumption they are anything like us. Chances are they don't view us as anything, or make no spiritual, mental, physical or technological advances in any way we'd recognise. They might not be intelligent or think in our manner, they might not be detectable or able to detect us. Could be the aliens are rolled up in other dimensions, lack any use for morals, applaud our warlike tendencies. They might not be bipedal, possessed of opposable thumbs, or in need of spacecraft. Nothing says they're carbon based either.
It could be we are the extraterrestrials, they are former earthlings, or that they're robots - though perhaps crafted by other aliens who may or may not be like the above.
I'd say it wouldn't make sense for beings in a different environment to develop in an identical manner, but then what do I know about life on other planets - or wherever they live. If they live...

On a similiar planet it's logical to assume the evolution would be similiar. On a dis-similiar planet (i.e. gaseous) then it's hats off and who knows. But if they travel to our system and show interest, it is safe to say they have more in common with humans than insects.

It is? Based on what? Without actually encountering the affore mentioned alleged creatures, everything we come up with is at best speculation, at worst lame science fiction.

Whats with the short-term memory? I said this was all speculation in my other post. You basically just regurgitated what I said to you.

You did? I must've skimmed it and missed that part. Yeesh, and I get annoyed with people who don't read the whole posts? I should know better.

Oh, look, I am a cat goddess now. Which is kind of odd, since I'm a guy.

Actually , I'm gonna have to poke at that too. Its true that if all the conditions were same, the evolution would be very similar. However, the planets similarity isn't the only thing that affects the evolution of an animal. For example, there would have to be the same plethora of Fauna and flora for this to occur. Partially because evolution doesn't just happen (you know..natural selection), its something that happens out of need. And without competition, there is no need.

IMO that's a lot of requirements to fulfill, but if it happened in our world- its not unlikely that it'll happen in another, just probably will differ a lot, because there are too many factors that affect it.

You have massively ripped legs for a girl Variol.

And more on topic, a lot of the speculation I'm reading assumes evolution to be a confirmed process beyond adaptation within a species. Not sure how much I can say about that without stomping all over the religious discussion ban.

I don't suppose I could be changed to a Cat-god? Or to avoid calling the wrath of Choc, perhaps a cat-demigod? I'd like to remain male, you know? Just kind of my thing.
