Well, after repeated trips back from 11 to 12/13 shops looking for different stuff, I have concluded that no weapon currently forged can whip those guys. I thought maybe it was looking for a specific weapon type for damage, Great Axe, or any axe, for that matter, but I tried the four best Great Axes in game, and nothing. I'm going to look into non magical weapons next, assuming I can find any, to see if they are like the magic elementals from ToB, and can only be damaged by non-magical weapons. I have it on good authority that there are some really high enhancement weapons coming soon, and these creatures may require those to overcome damage reduction.

This problem has really been bugging me, then....

Eureka moment!!!!!

Bumbies sword of fury!

But of course, it's available on level 11 same as the trees, just read the description.

"Could cut through living tree trunk"

also has Vorpal dc16 (whatever that is)

It must be the weapon! It has to be the weapon, it cannot possibly fail, and it has to work! So loading up a fighter I bravely set out on a quest on behalf of Ironworks and adventures everywhere. Though I was going solo fear came second to the riches, the glory, the girls that would await my triumphant return!

It isn't in the list above? I straight out called Bumbis a lieing bastard for that one...

Edit: Although, I wonder if it would work in the hands of a Scimitar weapon master...They are immune to criticals, and the vorpal requires a crit to fire, but I don't know if immunity to crits will stop the vorpal from working.

I spent about 2 hours on level 11 last night taking out the vast majority of the desert folk, did Bumbis' quest, visited the "good" camp nd the ruins. I was told to watch out for the "trees", but I never came across them. From readingh above I guess I am glad.

If I get a moment I shall send in my scimitar WM, I'm sure she has a Bumbis special, she collects scimmies...will update on it when I have been down and found one of them.

Nope, sent her in, no damage to treebeard's bad brother, used bumbis' +8. Methinks Bumbis lied to us...
Knew I shouldn't have trusted a dragon...

Crit Immunity should stop Vorpal, the vorpal effect relies on crits to work.
