I can't start W&W! i just got a new computer from my dad and installed W&W. I tried to start the game but couldn't because i couldn't start the game directly, it always went into auto run mode which for some reason never apears on my screen, but somehow of my screen in the top left hand corner. I also cant propperly do the v-dub, it always say it cant acces the file i need to change because another process is using it, but when i look, there is no process using it. i also tried uninstalling but that didn't work, i had the same problems

Dude,

Okay, first things first...

Am I correct in understanding that when you try to auto-run, the resulting window shows up in the corner of the screen and you can't get to it? If so, have you tried doing Alt-space, M (which activates the Window Move feature)? You can then use arrow keys to move it where you need it. Failing that, you can read the Best Tips thread, where we cover doing a manual install.

Second, it sounds like you're trying to v-dub onto the same file name. That, you can't do. You've got to give it a different name (town1.avi => town1new.avi), and then rename it after v-dub is complete (town1new.avi => town1.avi).

Give that a shot and let's see what happens.

Okay, let me make sure I understand what you're talking about. When you pop in the CD, the Autorun dialogue appears. But it appears off the screen, and you can't do anything to it. Is that correct?

If that's so, you might try the alt-space-M option. Hit alt-space, which opens up the "dash" drop-down. Then hit "M", which selects the "Move" option (if it's available). Then use the arrow keys to move the window back to where you can see it. Don't use the mouse until you see something you can grab on to.

Alternately, you might try maximizing your desktop size (to 1600x1280, for example). That might bring the window into focus.

Failing that, you may be looking at a registry walk (to try to find the display settings) or a Windows reinstall (to put everything back).

I have the same problem with my computer. What am I doing wit it?

1. Create a shortcut to W&W app on your desktop. You need a shortcut to deep6.exe from your W&W directory. You will have to set the icon to deep6.exe by hand. The icon is in the directory, too.
2. Put your CD into the drive. When the autorun starts (and the autorun menu goes out of the screen), right click W&W autorun on your taksbar and quit it.
3. Start W&W from the icon instead of the autorun. It works. You will be able to start W&W this way again and again until you open your CD drive.

Another funny thing about XP and avi-files is that there's a major bug in Windows. Surprise, surprise. AFAIK it only hinders you from deleting avi-files, but if Bungleau's tips didn't work then try installing this little fix. Remember to export and save the value before deleting it.
