Every time I connect to the net with a 56k modem it works fine for 4-5 minutes and then pauses for about a minute or two. I am still connected and this counts on my net time when I get the phone bill, but there is no data traffic. Everything is paused. When I try to ping myself or the provider the order just waits for the connection to be reestablished, no timeouts or anyhing. This prevents me from playing any games on the net, and I'm quite eager to challenge Thalali on a bout in StarCraft. Please help..

what ISP are you using? I had this problem and I did a few things. I phoned up my ISP and got them to change the last 3 digits of the number I dialled too, I deleted all cookies and all files, and I got a new modem. Now everything works perfectly. I think the first thing to do would be to try changing the digits on the number, if that doesnt work try a different modem

It's not the ISP, I've tried with some other. This is getting better and better, because I can't really don't know what that leaves us with.

I did. I bought another about a week ago, thinking the problem would go away. It didn't.

OK, as things are now, I'll be getting a new beast of a Deus Ex Machina in about two weeks. I'll get back to you then.
