Default The shoe is on the other foot

But Rush Limbaugh still won't admit he was wrong.

LImbaugh falls for Obama thesis hoax - but is in no Rush to apologize.

One might think Limbaugh would be man enough to admit he was fooled, especially since he just went through this same thing himself. But - in true Rush fashion - he not only refuses to admit he is wrong, he claims he knows Obama really thinks like this. After admitting 3 times his researcher could find no source for the Obama thesis, Limbaugh's "apology" consisted of...

"So we have to hold out the possibility that this is not accurate." (taken from the transcript on his home page).

But he immediately follows with......

"However, I have had this happen to me recently. I have had quotes attributed to me that were made up, and when it was pointed out to the media that the quotes were made up, they said, "It doesn't matter! We know Limbaugh thinks it anyway." Sort of like Dan Rather said, "I don't care if these documents are forged. I know that Bush did what he did at the National Guard. I don't care if the documents are forged." I don't care if the Limbaugh quotes are made up. So, I can say, "I don't care if these quotes are made up. I know Obama thinks it. You know why I know Obama thinks it? Because I've heard him say it." Not about the Constitution, but about the Supreme Court. Again, 2001, FM radio station interview in Chicago when he was a state senator in Illinois."

So even when he gets punked, Limbaugh still acts like a whiny punk himself.

Hehe, even when he should apologize, and say he F'ed up, Rush of course, finds a way to make it about himself. Would you expect any more from him, I mean really?

The audio is priceless btw. "Yeah I made these up, but i'm gonna pretend they're real anyway". lol.

The sad thing is that this fake truthiness always leads to something having a life of its own. Other people, unnamed here, have taken this opportunity to say that maybe this quote was fake but it still shows an underlying truth -- that Obama doesn't understand the constitution and/or hates it. This, of course, was Rush's conclusion in the "Wah this is all about me" part at the end.

He's such a big sissy. (Apparently a word for felines doesn't make it through the profanity filter here.)

Anyway, the notion that Obama doesn't understand the Const. and/or hates it strikes me as just.... well, blindingly, retardedly, mouth-breathingly stupid. Of course, that's opinion.

But, here's some facts. The guy did teach Constitutional Law, three courses a year, for 13 (IIRC) years. How much did he know about it? Well, let's see:

Here's his exam from 1996: http://lawprofessors.typepad.com/fil....1996.fall.pdf

Okay, now here's the kicker. I never, NEVER, had a professor do this. After the exam, he gave out the model answers/discussion that would have aced the test.
http://lawprofessors.typepad.com/fil....fall.memo.pdf

So, if you don't like my curmudgeonly, insulting opinion, take a look at the guy's typical work in a Con Law course and decide for yourself. Does he sound like a guy who hates the Constitution?

Oh, and if the longish essay by Obama is a bit TL;DR for you, here's a writeup in Slate from Summer 2008 analyzing his writing, and even postulating that it could be very hard for someone with such an obviously nuanced understanding of the law to win the election: http://www.slate.com/id/2196337/

Cheers!

Yea he should have apologized, and used the opportunity to show the difference between hard news getting the facts wrong, and a commentator doing it. Instead of the they did it to me, so I can do it to them. He missed the opportunity to stand head and shoudlers above his critics. If he was going to do his normal Illustrating absurdity by being absurd, then he should have made it clear from the get go that is what he was doing. All his actions did was give his opponents amunition to shoot him with. I got no sympothy for that.

In law school, you can look up old versions of the tests in the library that the same professor has given. Sometimes you can find or the professor will give model answers done by other students on portions of the exam in past years. Of course professors are willing to meet to discuss an exam grade. And yes sometimes there will be some red marks on the page indicating where you lost points.

But a professor doing a 15 page model answer per class per semester, every year? Unheard of. Maybe the U of C required that, but I doubt it -- I can ask some U of C folks I know and find out. Most likely it probably just shows a pretty decent work ethic on the part of the professor.

WOW Holy mackeral BatTL, you mean with something as important as the Law it's not customary for the professors to give the correct answers so that the students learn from their mistakes :?
Man I'm glad my Lawyer is an old fart, and worked out all the kinks on other clients dimes and not mine

If'n that's true TL then it does show work ethic.

Hey at least some of them give out model answers from other students. In fact in my Land Use class, I was one.
