lol indeed JD. Since it's on Fox News, these people actually seek him out to partake in some sort of active hatred (what are the odds you're watching Fox's 'Fair and Balanced', but object to his brand of commentary?).

This seems more like the old melodramatic plays where the crowd throws popcorn at the villains: just an alternate form of entertainment.

One wonders about the positive impact on his ratings though : "Good news, Bill. Turns out you are simultaneously the most popular and unpopular cable news commentator - which doesn't matter as long as they're watching."

Ironically, the Factor, given a consistent easily identifiable bias and ridiculous standards in interviewing, is essentially following the same business model, but instead is cashing in on other people's dislike/hatred for Democrats/liberals. If it were just about current events and ideas it wouldn't be so biased and vitriolic (and loud). It wouldn't be so high in the ratings either.

Heh heh. You're both right. Let's leave it at that.

JDH, I probably will become a Crusty Old Coot someday, but less in the 'I salute the flag each morning and you can pry my gun from my cold dead hands' sense, and more in the 'civilisation is inherently f**king insane and I'm going to go and live by myself in the woods' kind of way.

Behold... the rational coot. This variety of coot is rare and shy, lacking the loud and raucous cry which readily identifies it's more common cousin, the crusty coot. The habitat of the rational coot is similar to that of the crusty, often outside of urban centers. The nest is distinct from that of the crusty coot in it's lack of broken appliances on the porch or the common camaro on cinderblocks in the driveway. The rational coot, although a peaceful creature by and large, has been known to deliver a devasting, deconstructive tongue-lashing when riled.

(beeep) Next slide please.

It's worked for Howard Stern on the radio, glad to see the same model working for TV
