Well, maybe not that technical...anyway:

My dad now owns a laptop that his company had given him, but since they force him to change his password every three weeks, and he's already had nis new one for a month, there is no way he can remember the one for his old laptop. Is there any way of getting into Windows on that laptop without using the password? Like, a startup in Safe Mode or something? I greatly appreciate any help, as we're heading off on holiday tomorrow (Monday 25th July) and we'd like it on the trip. Obviously it's a little bit of a liability if we can't actually get int to it. The OS is Windows 2000 Professional, if that plays a factor. I have no idea of the laptop's other stats.

Did he get his old laptop through the company too? If so they may still have a password for it.

Well, the password may be at the company, but I'm trying to get into it before tomorrow, as he's off work for the week.

I guess that means there is no other way.

can't you just get him to phone the company? Other than that, I can't think of a way, but Il ask around. The only thing is, if it is possible then a password really is kinda worthless!

Yeah, I know. I just thought maybe there was some complex solution or something...and I don't think the password is directly there. I think he may have to give it in, or something, and let them work on it. Also, as it's Sunday today, I'm not sure if anybody would be in...it may be a possibility that we can try.

Right. I owe the biggest of apologies. My dad just had a massive epiphany, and remembered the password. I fell really stupid now. I'm really sorry for wasting your time like that, I really am. Thanks for al your attention to this topic though.

EDIT: Since you got it before I posted, I'd probably better not leave instructions here on how to hack a Windows Password.
