I don't know about anyone else butI use my sig because I like the picture, and works with one I used to have but lost.

Mainly to advertise the OOM, and the fact that I am the leader (j/k)

Also to get more visitors to the site linked to there...

I use a sig so I can scroll down the page and stop when I get to my post, and read the posts which follow.
Another reason (as many people have said in earlier posts) is that you can recognise other IW members without looking at their names.
Oh yeah...and they look kewl as well

I use my signature to promote my websites, and my favourite webcomic.

But you dont need a sig to tell your posts

All you need to do is find a post: That Goes Like This, Dont Cha Know

To be honest, I've never given thought to having a sig--on some boards, you're told very strictly that sigs slow down loading time, and it's verboten. But with all the attractive sigs here, I've been given it a lot of thought. Unfortunately, I've no skill at designing these things; so, for now, at least, I must needs remain sig-less.

You rose immesurably in my esteem with the first comment, and then fell back down with the second. You must listen to it! Thats what it is for! Lets all sing:

"My beloved monster and me,
We go everywhere together,
Wearing a raincoat that has four sleves,
It gets us through all kinds of weather,"
