I have a zip file in my NWN directory, just sitting there. There are files in there that end in .2da. They range from ambient music to xptable. Should I unzip this folder? Where should I place the files?

Also, what is this? It is a file called safe2dalines. Inside it says this:

To reduce future grief for 2DA updates for the HotU expansion and other game updates, we are declaring the following index line values in the following files are for Community Content. If you pad out the following 2DA files and start your content at these numbers or higher, HotU and any other BioWare content will not touch these numbers. This does still mean, just like in previous NWN Updates, that you will need to update your 2DA files for any content that we release in future Updates. We will try to identify them in each Update to make your changes easier.

The safe2dalines file was a way for Bioware to isolate certain portions of the .2da files for exclusive use by the modding community. What they are saying is "Hey guys, we are reserving specific lines in the .2da files for OUR USE, but you can use any of THESE lines in specific .2da files without fear of current or future conflicts with any of our official modules or expansions."

I'm not sure I can adequately explain EXACTLY what the .2da files are because there are so many of them.

Is this a fresh install?
If so, can you run the game as it stands right now?
If you can run the game, leave everything exactly as it is.
Trust me, tinkering without having an idea what your finger is poking program wise doesn't always have a happy ending. (Been there, done that, formatted the hard drive.)

The .2da files are fine as they are. This is data that is used by NWN for items, creatures etc, and if you unzip it, it's a very large text file that will make no sense to you, or just about anyone else...

This is the same install that I have had for years...I just thought I'd ask because it was bugging me all this time.
I'll leave it alone then.
